Apparently 56 is not the age I decided to settle down.

I have a career I enjoy, grown kids, a family I love and a pretty good life.

And then at 54 I decided it would be a great time to learn how to build an online business too.

Because why not?

Turns out, I like being a beginner at something again. And I really like knowing I’m building more options for the years ahead.

I’m Kelly Jane, 56, full-time teacher and proof that Gen X is nowhere near done yet.

Nobody warned me THIS would happen when my kids grew up.

After years of life revolving around work, kids, schedules and everything in between, suddenly I had room to think about what I wanted next.

More travel. More flexibility. Another income. More choices when it comes to retirement.

So in my 50s, I started building something online alongside a job I still enjoy.

Turns out, the kids growing up wasn’t the end of an era. It gave me room to start something new.

I’m 56, and here’s what I wish I knew 10 years ago.

You don’t need to understand social media, be great with technology or have a big following to build something online.

You can learn it.

I started while working full time and living a very normal life. I just stopped assuming I was too old to learn something new.

Turns out, 56 isn’t too late at all.

I’m Kelly, and I’m building more income and more choices for what comes next.

There comes a point where you realise... I don’t actually want to keep doing life the way I’ve always done it.

Not because life is bad.

Because you want more choice in what the next chapter looks like.

More freedom. More income options. More time that actually belongs to you.

Maybe 56 isn’t too late.

Maybe it’s exactly the right time to decide there’s still more you want to do, learn and experience.
