Bruce Lee influenced me, and I really wanted to learn Ving Tsun, so I tried very hard to fina a Ving Tsun teacher. I spent 15years learning from 2 difference masters, but I felt I couldn't apply what I had learnt in the real world, but I didn't know what was missing. At that time, there was no internet, so I felt lost in my search, until a friend of mine introduced me to Sifu Ip Ching. When I first experience Sifu's Kung Fu, I was amazed, and I found that what I lacked in my Ving Tsun could be found in him. I told Sifu that he would be my last Ving Tsun teacher.

方永康館長自幼喜愛功夫，曾修習多門中外武術，主要包括詠春、菲律賓魔杖。方館長特別熱愛詠春，他學習詠春及菲律賓魔杖約三十多年，另外還有擒拿術、自衛術及軍警格鬥術…等。
方館長自中學時代開始學習詠春及其他武術，當踏出社會工作後，對詠春更加產生濃烈興趣，繼而不斷學習，後來有幸得遇葉正師傅，自此正式於菌師傅家中以私人教授形式學習詠春。
當他上第一課時，葉正師傅要求他打小念頭，他以為自己已練得不錯，誰知葉師傅把他的問題一一道出，重新把詠春概念及拳理給他糾正過來，接著與葉師傅黐手，更令方館長驚嘆不矣，自此令他對詠春更加著迷，從那時開始便是方館長在詠春功夫上的轉淚點，自此，他更加努力追隨葉正師傅學習詠春。
葉正師傅不但功夫了得，而且個人品格及武德令方館長非帶欽佩。經常有海外同門師兄弟帶同海外弟子回港深造，方館長有幸能有機會追隨葉師傅作翻譯及輔助葉師傅教導海外同門，在他們眼中的師公葉正非常友善及功夫了得，所以海外同門都非常尊敬葉師傅。
