Vielight Inc

Vielight Inc Enhancing cognitive performance with intranasal-transcranial photobiomodulation (itPBM) technology. Vielight Inc. was founded to commercialize the invention.

is leading the field of brain photobiomodulation (PBM) technology. We combine science with engineering ingenuity to develop devices that incorporate noninvasive methods of delivering the nurturing energy of red and near-infrared (NIR) light to the brain and the body. The Vielight story started in 1995, when Lew Lim and his colleagues at Silicon Valley invented intranasal photobiomodulation as a no

ninvasive method of delivering the therapeutic energy of red and NIR light into the human body. The research and development continued throughout the next decade before Vielight Inc. Officially incorporated in Canada in 2011, Vielight Inc. has since evolved into a formidable team of engineers, scientists and business professionals dedicated to making PBM technology accessible to as many people as possible. Vielight’s footprint currently covers North America, Europe, Australia and other markets. At the end of 2015, results from the initial pilot study conducted in collaboration with Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine warranted further investment and grants for bigger upcoming clinical trials approved by the FDA and Health Canada. Since then, the research and clinical trials designed to investigate our PBM devices for various applications are ongoing. Today Vielight produces a range of wearable PBM devices that employ our patented intranasal and transcranial PBM (tPBM) technologies. All Vielight PBM devices are classified as general wellness devices. In 2019 we announced the commencement of our pivotal-stage clinical trial where our Neuro RX Gamma tPBM device is investigated as a potential therapy for individuals with moderate to advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease. This important trial had to be postponed due to pandemic-related restrictions. We were able to restart the trial in 2021. Also, in 2021 we have announced the completion of our clinical trial where we investigated our Vielight RX Plus PBM device as a potential therapy for COVID-19. At the same time, researchers at the University of Utah have conducted an exploratory research where they studied the effects of our Neuro Gamma device on symptoms of traumatic brain injuries in retired pro-athletes from collision sports. A number of other studies investigating our devices are either ongoing or in the works. We always research new opportunities and expand our range of solutions. We collaborate with world-renowned research institutions in the field of photobiomodulation. Our goal is to combine the pioneering spirit with our passionate commitment to improving people’s lives by producing devices that help people.

73 years old. 204 arrows. Double gold 🥇 🥇

At the 2026 State Games of America, organizers merged two archery tournaments into a single 10 hour day. Anne Abernathy, 73, was the only archer who attempted both. She won both, and posted the highest recurve score of the day of any archer on the field, male or female.

Archery asks for exactly what people are told to expect less of with age: sustained attention, precise repetition, composure under pressure. Anne shot 204 arrows across 10 hours in the heat, and put five of her final six in the gold. Her score rose to 747, up from 735 at her last competition in 2025 🏹

“I would not have attempted a challenge of this magnitude without Vielight.” - Anne Abernathy

Aging well is the whole reason we build what we build. The Vielight Neuro has been part of Anne's daily routine through a year of rehabilitation and her return to competition. For this event: Alpha the evening before, Gamma the morning of.

Read about Anne's incredible Olympic history here. She is the oldest female athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics, competing over 6x in her career: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Abernathy

He ran a 40+ people through an 8-week program using the Vielight NeuroPro 2, with a QEEG scan before and after every session and one variable changed each week 💡

He will walk through the testing framework, what the measurements showed across the group, three individual cases in detail, and the limitations of the data.

The cribriform plate, a porous area of bone just above the nose, is a key part of this. It is the thinnest part of the skeleton, measuring around 1mm or less on average.

Healthy volunteers wanted, Toronto. $100 per visit.

We are running an EEG study to observe how the brain responds while near-infrared light is delivered, not weeks later. You wear an EEG cap and a Vielight Neuro Pro2 while we record brain activity during rest and a short listening task.

Who we are looking for: adults 18 to 80, English-speaking, no current major psychiatric or neurological condition, no history of stroke or seizures, non-smokers (to***co and cannabis), no recreational drug use, not on psychotropic medication, not pregnant or breastfeeding.

3+ visits, up to 3 hours each, at 471 Jarvis St. $100 per visit.

The Neuro Pro2 (810 nm) is investigational here and has not been approved by Health Canada or any other regulator for the treatment of any condition.

Advarra IRB approved.

Nine years ago, the idea that NIR light through the nose could reach deep brain structures like the thalamus was a hypothesis on a whiteboard 🧠

This week it is in an MRI scanner 💡

Researchers at the Rotman Research Institute at Baycrest and the University of Toronto have released the first fMRI study of Vielight intranasal photobiomodulation, without a transcranial component. 45 healthy adults. Responses detected in the thalamus and amygdala.

Every previous human trial combined the two delivery routes, which made it impossible to separate them. This one does not.

We are genuinely honoured that Vielight's MRI-compatible lasers were part of this work, and we want to be equally clear about where it stands. The preprint has not been peer reviewed. A physiological response is not a clinical outcome. The authors themselves are direct about what they cannot yet explain.

Our bi-weekly blog has the full breakdown. Read it here: https://www.vielight.com/blog/intranasal-photobiomodulation-reaches-subcortical-structures-first-human-fmri-evidence/

Baycrest fMRI study with 45 people utilized Vielight intranasal PBM technology, triggering a response from the thalamus, surpassing transcranial-only PBM.

Through modern engineering, the MIP 470-633-655-810 provides benefits to brain wellness, systemic wellness and microbial sanitization simultaneously 🧠🧘‍♀️

Our patented intranasal photobiomodulation technology is the best way to deliver near-infrared energy through the nose to the underside of the brain and nasal vasculature.

The underside of the brain hosts several important structures. The olfactory bulb is directly connected to the brain regions responsible for keeping long-term memories. The ventromedial prefrontal cortex is vital for cognitive processes

The nasal channel hosts a dense network of capillaries , making it the perfect site for non-invasive systemic PBM.

Our latest blog is based on two separate observational studies with the Vielight Vagus and Vielight Neuro, based on microstates. Microstates are the brain's fast-shifting resting network patterns, are sensitive enough to track how brain state reorganizes within a single session.

Did the patterns diverge? Learn more by reading the newsletter summary 💡 https://www.vielight.com/blog/vielight-vagus-vs-neuro-brain-signature-comparison-eeg-microstates/
