🏦 Bank of Canada Holds at 2.25%

No change from the Bank of Canada today, but that doesn’t mean mortgage rates aren’t moving.

With inflation around 3%, continued trade uncertainty with the U.S., and an economy showing some resilience, the Bank is staying on the sidelines for now.

What does it mean for your mortgage?

➡️ Variable rates: Prime remains at 4.45%, so no change today.

➡️ Fixed rates: Bond yields have been trending higher, putting upward pressure on fixed mortgage rates.

The big takeaway: A Bank of Canada hold does NOT mean all mortgage rates are holding.

We’ll continue watching inflation, the trade war, and bond yields to see where rates go next.

Bank of Canada keeps rates on hold at 2.25% 🏦

That's 6 hikes... nope, make that 6 holds in a row. No surprises here, this was the expected move.

The situation: inflation crept up to 3.2% in May (thanks, oil prices), but the economy is actually holding up better than a lot of people thought. Growth is up, jobs are steady.

So the Bank is playing it cool. Not cutting, not hiking, just watching how things shake out with energy prices and global uncertainty.

What this means for you: variable mortgage rates and lines of credit stay put for now. 💸

Bottom line: steady as she goes, for now. 👀
