We love hosting workshops with Boomerang Bags Toronto (one coming up tonight: https://www.universe.com/events/boomerang-bag-workshop-tickets-toronto-2G613Q) because this organization is tackling not one but TWO waste-related problems:

👕 They divert unwanted textiles away from landfills to turn them into reusable bags. 85% of textile waste gets thrown in the trash with the average North American contributing 81 pounds of textiles to landfill per year. In landfill, textiles can take over 40 years to break down and in the process, they release methane and toxic leachate contributing to climate destabilization.

🔄 They raise awareness of the problems with our addiction to plastic bags and put reusable bags out into the community for free. In Toronto alone we go through approximately 215 million plastic bags per year, amounting to some 1,400 tons of plastic. It’s time to break up with plastic bags!

Join us tonight to make reusable bags out of upcycled fabrics with Boomerang Bags Toronto! All skill levels are welcome, workshop takes place at 1803 Danforth ave from 6-9pm.
