🖤February is Black History Month🖤

The 2023 theme is: “Ours to tell”. This theme represents both an opportunity to engage in open dialogue and a commitment to learning more about the stories Black communities in Canada have to tell about their histories, successes, sacrifices and triumphs.

Check out some of these amazing resources to see how you can engage in Ontario:

Today we honour the children who never made it home from residential schools, we honour the survivors, their families and communities. 🧡

Today we wear orange.
Today is about Truth and Reconciliation

What can we do to show our support?
🔸Read books by indigenous authors
🔸Review the 94 Truth and Reconciliation calls to action and commit to at least one
🔸Watch online events by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation
🔸Connect with your local Indigenous serving organizations

August was a world-wind of adventure and fun! We were able to participate, explore, learn and laugh through so many great activities and outings! 🔅

But we’re even more excited because today is BACK TO SCHOOL! 📚

We can’t wait to connect with all of our teachers, EA’s and friends !

☀️🎶SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER🎶☀️

Even though we enjoy spending our days in the community, swimming and playing in the backyard, we still take the time to learn!

What Are The Benefits Of Learning Through books? 📚

Learning through books allows youth to learn valuable life skills, including:
1. Concentration
2. Language Skills
3. Imagination
4. Creativity
5. Interaction Skills
6. Diversity
7. Empathy and more!

Beyond the skills learned, youth are also given the opportunity to simply enjoy this focused time, whether that be spent independently, one-on-one or within a small group of peers.
