Someone once said if you take care of someone with dementia you lose them more and more everyday. When they get the diagnosis, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment and when they pass away. This is called "ambigua loss."
I don't wish dementia on anyone. As the brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They could end up lying in bed, not moving and not eating or drinking.
There will be people who will scroll past this post because Dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has battled or is still battling dementia.
To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like my friends to put this on their page today.

Today, on Personal Support Workers Day, we shine a light on the quiet strength, patience, and deep compassion PSWs bring to their work each and every day. They are the steady presence, the gentle voice during times of vulnerability, and the comforting touch that brings peace when words fall short.

PSWs are the hands that hold, the hearts that listen, and the steady support that keeps dignity and compassion at the centre of care. Their work is often unseen—but always felt.

At Hospice Quinte, our PSWs are essential to everything we do. Through every thoughtful act, they bring a sense of peace—not just to our residents, but to their families as well. Their care is intimate, meaningful, and truly irreplaceable.

To our dedicated PSWs: thank you for your patience, your strength, and the comfort you provide so selflessly. You light the way through life’s most tender moments.

And to PSWs everywhere—thank you for giving so much of yourselves, and for making this world a more compassionate place.

If you're at the Trenton Walmart on this day please help support a local shelter.... Loyalist humane society is where we adopted our two boys from in 2020. Red & Tobi have been a huge blessing to our family.
