I was fortunate enough to attend the Taste of Place Summit in Edmonton this week. The summit explores how food and place intersect: local ingredients, food experiences, cultural identity, destination storytelling, community connection, and sustainable economic growth.
One day was spent exploring farms, learning about what the land provides us, learning to make pierogies and cruising Elk Island learning about the history of Bison. The second was a full day of different panels of the success, struggles and triumphs of culinary history, culture and aspiration from across our country.
Amazing experience, awesome food and drink and a great reminder that there are many yummy, ultra talented, super local food establishments are all around us.
