With the public comment period opening today, October 8, for the Berg Copper Project, we're also sharing our new Berg website, where you can find up-to-date information about the Project, the Initial Project Description (IPD), and dates for upcoming open houses across the region.

The IPD outlines the proposed Project, including its location and main facilities. You can also visit the EAO's official project page to review the materials and submit a comment by November 9 through this link - engage.eao.gov.bc.ca/BergCopper-EE

A local home base for the work ahead.

Our Smithers office brings the Berg Project team closer to the communities where we work. It gives people a place to meet some of the team, ask questions and learn more about the Project. It also gives us more opportunities to listen to local priorities and build respectful relationships with First Nations, local communities and regional partners as Berg moves through Early Engagement.

We also want to give a shout out to Randy's Image Design Ltd. for the beautiful new signage for our office! We absolutely love it.

Berg has a long history of exploration, with drilling dating back to the 1960s.

Surge began work at Berg in 2021. Since then, field programs, engagement with local and First Nations communities, and technical studies have helped build a more detailed understanding of the deposit and the surrounding area.

In June, we completed a Pre-Feasibility Study. On September 15, Berg entered B.C.'s Environmental Assessment (EA) process.

As part of the process, we are now gearing up for early engagement and the public comment period which will be announced soon. Stay tuned!

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the children who never returned home from residential schools and honour Survivors, their families and communities.

We acknowledge the lasting impacts of the residential school system on First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. This day calls on all of us to listen to Survivors, learn the truth of this history and reflect on our responsibilities in advancing reconciliation.

At Surge Copper, we recognize that building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities requires ongoing listening, learning and action, today and throughout the year.

Copper is part of everyday life.
It carries electricity through our homes, hospitals, vehicles, communications systems and communities. It is not easily replaced (we’ve tried with aluminum with limited success!)
Its conductivity, durability and recyclability make copper essential to both today’s infrastructure and tomorrow’s technologies.
