Hey Everyone! Welcome to our Business Social Club!
We thought we would take a minute to introduce ourselves, so you can get to know the people on the other side of this screen, as we hope to get to know all of you as well!
We are a team of two, Mel and Brittney, two friends who got to know each other through business, and have spent MANY hours hive minding and brainstorming together through the ups and downs of self employment.

Being self-employed can be lonely, and it's a struggle to be the sole decision maker. We all have friends who you can vent to but does anyone really understand the turbulence of a small business without being one themselves? That's why we're here! We want this to be a space where we can support each other, hive mind the hard decisions, celebrate the victories, and provide resources through various ways (More to come…. 😉)

So WHO are we?!
Melanie Moore - A website extraordinaire, Shopify expert and all around business development nerd! In a previous life Mel configured servers for a large tech company 🤓. After moving to Canada Mel became a purchasing manager for a chain of 20+ retail stores, a career she loved but still needed more. Mel found herself in the world of small business. First starting her own company, opening a brick and mortar shop and then transitioning to the tech side of things, Mel has experience in so many facets of small business! Today Mel runs The Urban Freelancer (www.theurbanfreelancer.com), a successful full service business solutions agency she built from the ground up where she works with businesses small and large in almost every sector!

Brittney Weedmark - A university drop out who chased after everything she wanted! Brittney dropped out of University where she was studying Criminology to pursue her booming mug business Empire of Sass. With dreams of her own store front she jumped at the opportunity to purchase Coastal Collective + Co (coincidently the brick and mortar shop Mel previously Co-owned). As Covid hit Brittney made the purchase of Artisan Gifts & Flowers ...because…why not?! 😉 and as if that wasn’t enough on her plate, in 2021 she built The Salty Sailor Gift Shop from scratch! In her “spare time” she also organizes a successful market The Warehouse Sale.
Owning 3 stores and a product based business isn’t for the faint of heart but it’s Brittney’s passion. She knows the ins and outs of retail management and has a love for building new businesses!

So here we are! Welcome to the group! We look forward to getting to know everyone and their businesses!
