Remember, Back to School is about re-energizing, focusing, and getting organized. Everyone can relate to that!

Did Instagram just kiII Manychat & CTAs in general?! 🤔

A few hours ago, Instagram Creators account posted a very controversial reel that caused a lot of confusion and panic responses.

They basically advised against asking your audience to like, share, or comment a specific word:

"If we believe your content explicitly asks for engagement through shares, comments, tags, or other actions, then we won't recommend it. An example of this is asking people to comment with a specific word, number, or emoji."

A few hours later the post was taken down.

Some people say that this is not what they meant and that was just a miscommunication. Others are convinced that this was exactly what they meant.

Meanwhile, we are waiting for an official clarification.

Did you hear about the “let them eat cake” revolution?

I’m referring to the blockout 2024 movement where people are blocking celebrities’ social media accounts. They are also blocking their companies and brand accounts.

It all started with the Met Gala when a famous influencer dressed up in a Marie Antoinette inspired gown, and posted a video using her famous quote “let them eat cake”.

People were triggered because, while a Met Gala ticket costs $75,000 🤷‍♀️ normal people are suffering from inflation and are having hard time putting food on the table, not to mention what’s happening in another part of the world right now.

Everybody is feeling that their favorite celebrities are only interested in making more money, whether it’s from views, brand deals, or promoting their own products. People are being sick of always being sold to. And while most of these accounts are buying followers to do some damage control, these fake followers will never convert.

It’s worth mentioning that the “let them eat cake” influencer tried to apologize in “a sorry but not sorry” PR scripted video, mentioning that she is not rich and famous and that she’s suffering like everybody else. But of course since we live in a digital era where everything is documented, people started sharing a previous video where she was showing off her $17,000 a month appartement. If you do the math, that’s over $200,000 in rent per year, which is not really helping her right now!

Marketing lessons:
- Always nurture your followers and make them feel appreciated.
- Going viral is not always a good thing, you can go viral for all the wrong reasons.

Fun fact:
- A famous singer was carrying a $22,500 bag, made of ice 🧊that kept melting and dripping during the event!
