Our first gathering of the People Leaders Lab was a success!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed so openly to the conversation on giving feedback people can hear and apply. It’s not always easy to talk about these things honestly, and it meant a lot to be in a room with people willing to do that.

If you’d like to join us for the next one, we’ll be gathering again for:

And shout out to for capturing the magic of the night and keeping the delicious snacks coming! 🍿🤍

One question I keep coming back to as a leader:

Is this a feedback moment or a feedforward moment?

Feedback has its place. But for everyday coachable moments, a presentation, a tough conversation, a new skill someone’s building, feedforward is often more powerful. The key is you are not dwelling on what can’t change (potentially deflating the person). You’re arming someone for what’s next.
The key is staying attentive enough to notice when “next time” arrives. That follow-through is what makes the coaching real.

What does this look like on your team? 💬

If you love feedback as much as I do, join us at our first People Leaders Lab event tomorrow at TOGETHERHEADS.

We are delighted to introduce Jem!

She has joined us from BCIT’s Digital Marketing + Brand Strategy program as our Marketing Intern.

Jem took part in planning and implementing our ICBC event at the Vancouver Auto Show and has been busy working behind the scenes supporting our People Leaders Lab Roundtable series. She’s shared thoughtful feedback, helped us organize and produce our socials content, and flexed her design skills in her first half of her internship. We’re loving have her on the team for her candid input and drive to make things better.

Jem embodies our values of kindness, optimism and connection. Grateful to have her on the team. 👏🏻

Today is World Kindness Day.

As you move through your day, know that you are loved.

I received this handwritten love note (along with a few extras to share) from my friend Wendy Williams Watt — someone who truly embodies the spirit of World Kindness Day. From her BIGLOVEBALL to YOU ARE LOVED NOTES, a grassroots activation shared by hundreds of thousands, she has been spreading love and positivity around the globe for years.

Here are a few simple ways you can sprinkle kindness today, and every day:

- Send a thank-you letter
- Give a sincere compliment
- Tell someone how their work matters
- Listen with intention
- Check in on someone
- Extend grace

I invite you to create a ripple of kindness in whatever way feels right for you.

Let’s make our world kinder, one interaction at a time.

Three words that can transform how people feel at work.

“If it weren’t for you.”

A powerful phrase that creates a sense of mattering.

It moves beyond appreciation; it helps people see their unique impact and value.

Who in your world needs to hear these words today? Let me know if you let someone know the impact they made today. 🤍
