This week, B2Gold President & CEO Mike Cinnamond and SVP Randall Chatwin joined B2Gold Nunavut team members Clara, Andrew, and Alyssa in Cambridge Bay for a series of community meetings and conversations focused on the future of the Back River Gold District and our ongoing commitment to the region.

During their visit, the team shared an update at the Kitikmeot Inuit Association Annual General Meeting, connected with our community partners at the Redfish Arts Society, met with Mayor Gregory and Hamlet Council, and engaged in a meaningful discussion with Elders at the Kitikmeot Heritage Society.

A sincere thank you to everyone who welcomed us, shared their perspectives, and contributed valuable ideas. These conversations help strengthen our partnerships and guide how B2Gold can continue to support local priorities, create opportunities, and build a lasting positive legacy across the Kitikmeot Region.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities across Canada.

This day invites us to reflect on a painful chapter in Canada's history and to recognize the lasting impacts of the residential school system on Indigenous Peoples. It is also an opportunity to listen, learn, and deepen our understanding of the experiences, cultures, and contributions of Inuit, First Nations and Métis Peoples.

B2Gold Nunavut participated in the 2026 Kitikmeot Socio-Economic Monitoring Committee in Cambridge Bay this week.

The Committee’s role is to monitor the social and economic effects of major development projects in the Kitikmeot region and to promote the well-being of communities. It brings together governments, Inuit organizations, industry, and community representatives to review data, share community perspectives, and identify ways to maximize benefits while addressing potential impacts of resource development.

Thank you to the Government of Nunavut for organizing the discussions and to Polar Knowledge Canada for hosting the meetings at the Canadian High Arctic Research Station.
