Today we honour the lost children and survivors of the Residential Schools, their families and communities.

Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation.

It’s up to all of us to educate ourselves. Start by reading the 94 calls to action in the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

At Revolv we want to ensure all humans feel a sense of connection, community and belonging.

We specialize in supporting companies evolving to either part time or full time remote work.

We understand how hard it can be to retain a team that isn’t set up to work remotely and are here to help merge the gap between in-office culture and remote culture.

It’s not just you, everyone is experiencing video fatigue. We spend all day in video meetings followed by video calls with friends and family.

Here are 3 ways to minimize video fatigue:

1. Phone Meetings - Have a 1:1? Let’s give everyone a break, get outside or lay on the couch. You’ll have less distractions and able to focus on the call. Plus give those eyes a break.

2. No Meeting Day - Pick one day of the week and block off your calendar. Bonus points if it’s done company wide. We suggest Monday, Wednesdays or Fridays. They’re the days you likely need it the most.

3. Schedule Breaks - Stop booking full 30 or 1 hour meetings, opt in for 20 and 50 minute calls. This way you’re not back to back without having breathing room. You should also schedule random breaks throughout the day and guard those breaks, nobody wins when you don’t slow down.

Between emails, pings, and texts there is so much to distract us day to day.

What keeps you on track ensuring you’re working on the right work?

Let’s talk about The Four Quadrants of Time Management. It’s a great tool that allows all the clutter in your head on paper and keeps you in control of deadlines.

How does it work? * Next Slide*

Write everything down that’s cluttering up your mind, this will allow you to think clearly and get more done.

Now categorize them into one of the four quadrants.

Q1 - Important/Urgent: These are emergencies, work that NEEDS to get done today or EOW.

Q2 - Important/Not Urgent: Think prevention and long term planning (Relationship building and personal growth)

Q3- Not Important/Urgent: These can be unexpected, calls, emails, pings. Pressing matters.

Q4 - Time Wasters: Trivial activities, socializing, pleasant activities.

The key to success with this is to create weekly and daily quadrants. This way you focus on the projects that matter.

We’d love to know, how do you currently keep yourself on track?

I can’t go back

I can’t go back to colorless cubicle walls with no windows

To the constant noise of conversations and printers

To the gray smell of elevators and corporate carpet or even to break room coffee

I can’t go back to the blocked existence where 8 to 5 consist only of work and anything else has to wait until after

I can’t go back not because I no longer appreciate my job but because I’ve adapted to this reality where the things that matter most to me can absolutely exist in the same frame of the day as my professional obligations

I don’t have to split myself or my day in half

Something I’ve learned this past year is that a proper work-life balance is not only possible, it’s entirely attainable, sustainable and it exists much better when it’s just like this.

Based in Vancouver BC, Revolv Culture Solutions provides tools that allow a company's culture to thrive through remote work. To achieve this, we embed ourselves in your workplace to better understand how the culture is experienced from top-down.

We work with companies of any size, whether you’re looking to implement remote work as an option or do a company-wide transition, we work virtually with you, your leadership team, and the heart of the company — its people.

People leave companies for two reasons, their manager, and workplace culture. We’re here to provide culture solutions that ensure your employees thrive, and managers lead with purpose, meaning, and gratitude. The result? An increase in employee retention and overall satisfaction.

Every organization is different, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. We’ll work with your organization to design a strategy that’s unique to your company culture and aligns with your goals.

Do you have a WFH fury coworker?

They’re without a doubt the best part of working remotely.

Did you get a fury friend while working from home?

Leading a remote team comes with a whole new set of challenges. No one is ever prepared to work fully remotely. Yes, even if you signed up for it!

Let’s say you have a member who is new to remote work and hasn’t complained about
being remote but they’re not performing.

Are you asking the right questions? Are you getting curious about how they’re ACTUALLY adapting?

I’m not talking about the surface-level bu****it, really get to know your people.
Find out more about their set up, who they live with, what their stressors are,
if they feel connected to the team and company.

Sometimes employees struggle with imposter syndrome and are embarrassed to ask questions that might seem “simple”. But by them not asking these questions, they consistently feel disconnected in meetings.

This can lead to disengagement and low performance.

So ask those questions, get to know your team, and remind yourself working
remote can be lonely when you’re disengaged - let’s avoid this.
