🇨🇦 Canada is gaining major momentum in global mining exploration.

S&P Global’s Q1 2026 Exploration Jurisdiction Power Score shows a major shift in the exploration landscape:

🥈 Ontario climbed to #2 globally
🥉 British Columbia surged to #3

Both provinces were among the strongest movers quarter-over-quarter, driven by increased drilling and new initial resource announcements.

The details are particularly encouraging:

🟠 British Columbia recorded 762 drill holes, with junior explorers in the Golden Triangle leading activity.
🟠 Ontario recorded 3 initial resource announcements, signaling that exploration is translating into defined resources.
🟠 S&P Global describes Canada as the most consistent source of growth, with Ontario and B.C. showing sustained exploration and resource conversion rather than short-term spikes.

The bigger picture? While Western Australia remains #1 globally, Canada is emerging as a key source of exploration momentum and increasingly, the place where exploration is beginning to convert into the next generation of mining assets.

The copper story isn’t only about supply challenges - it’s also about opportunity.

🔹 Escondida, Chile: The world’s largest copper mine is dealing with declining grades, but BHP is investing to offset those declines and support future production.

That investment highlights an important trend: as the world electrifies, maintaining and expanding copper production is becoming increasingly valuable.

For copper investors, that could create significant opportunities over the years ahead.

Copper demand is accelerating but supply is facing growing pressure.

The global push toward electrification is driving massive demand for copper, used across power grids, EVs, renewable energy and data infrastructure.

At the same time, some of the world’s major copper operations are facing significant disruptions:

🔹 Grasberg, Indonesia: An 800,000-ton mud flow at the world’s second-largest copper mine has pushed its full restart back to 2028.
🔹 Caserones, Chile: Severe winter storms in the Atacama region forced Lundin Mining to curtail operations and reduce its annual outlook.
🔹 Kamoa-Kakula, DRC: Seismic activity disrupted production at Ivanhoe Mines’ complex, while the company acknowledged that previous backfill assumptions were “probably miscalculated.”
🔹 Cobre Panamá: One of the world’s major copper mines remains offline following its late-2023 shutdown, removing a significant source of global supply.

The challenge is becoming increasingly clear: copper demand is rising just as supply becomes more vulnerable.

For investors, the question is becoming less about whether the world needs more copper and more about where that next supply will come from.

Copper is having a big week. 🟠

With prices near record highs and tight physical supply putting the spotlight on the challenge of bringing new copper production online, exploration is becoming increasingly important.

For Kutcho Copper, that means continuing to test for new copper-zinc mineralization at the Kutcho Project in northwest B.C. as part of our 2026 exploration program.

Mine shortages, shifting US trade flows and surging power investment are tightening an already stretched copper market.

Esso West has many similarities to the Esso Deposit, which was used as a benchmark. Deeper penetrating ZTEM has provided definition, clarity and allowed target prioritization.

Mira Geoscience modelling defined a conductivity high in rocks much younger than those that host the Kutcho VMS system. The conductivity high could represent hydrothermal mineralization above a concealed intrusion that has been modelled at depth.

2026 Drill Program: The Esso West target is a high priority drill target covering an area of 1,900m strike by 500m down dip (an area 4 times larger than the Esso Deposit).

2026 Drill Program: A large high priority target area of over 1.3 km² - a nexus of trends.
