Homerun Explainer Series - Pathway to High-Purity Feedstock for Next-Generation Silicon Carbide

Homerun has successfully worked in partnership with the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) in California, USA, to process the high-purity SME silica sand into fused silica, silicon and silicon carbide suitable for semiconductor feedstocks and substrates. This partnership represents a fundamental pillar in the Company's strategy to deliver unmatched feedstock security to Western technology manufacturers during a period of intense geopolitical competition and supply chain volatility.

Homerun provides a comprehensive strategic update on the expansion of its high-purity silica feedstock pathway.

The pathway is designed to support the next-generation Fused Silica, Silicon and Silicon Carbide (SiC) integrated photonics, advanced telecommunications, and quantum networking industries.

Anchored by the Company’s premier high-purity, low-iron silica resources in the Santa Maria Eterna Silica Valley, Homerun is establishing itself as a vertically integrated non-China feedstock supplier for mission-critical clean energy and deep-tech semiconductor value chains in the Americas.

On the final day of Intersolar South America 2026, our COO, Armando Farhate, and our VP of Operations, Joel Ferrari, discussed one of the key changes that stood out at this year’s edition: the growing presence of battery suppliers and manufacturers.

Energy storage complements photovoltaic generation by allowing energy produced during periods of higher solar availability to be stored and used throughout the day, helping optimize energy use and reduce bottlenecks related to generation and transmission.

As our team highlighted, the evolution of Intersolar itself reflects the transformation of the sector: from a trade show initially focused on solar panels to an ecosystem that now brings together different segments and solutions across the renewable energy value chain.

The timing of Intersolar South America 2026 is particularly important for Homerun, as the Company recently announced two significant developments that reinforce the advancement of its solar glass project in Brazil.

Financing Commitment: Homerun announced a letter of intent with a major German bank, contemplating financing of up to 170 million euro's for the equipment that will be used at the Company’s future solar glass manufacturing facility.

Cooperation Agreement with Cebrace: Homerun also announced a cooperation agreement with Cebrace, Brazil’s largest flat-glass manufacturer. The agreement creates opportunities for technological cooperation, leveraging Cebrace’s extensive experience in establishing and operating a glass manufacturing facility in Brazil, as well as exploring commercial opportunities to integrate Cebrace’s float glass products into Homerun’s future product line.

As Armando Farhate, COO of Homerun, explains, these developments come at a strategic moment, as key players in Brazil’s photovoltaic market come together to discuss opportunities, technologies, and the future of the industry.

Homerun has reached an important operational milestone on its pathway to +4N silica.

Yesterday, Homerun announced +4N bulk purified silica production. Now, we want to highlight why this milestone matters for scale and cost.

The latest campaign supports reproducibility of the process at production scale. The best result came from the shortest heating duration tested, pointing to potential lower energy use, operating costs, and thermal equipment needs in scale‑up.

This advances a practical, potentially lower‑cost pathway to +4N silica and creates a feedstock stream for advanced materials development.
