NervGen (NASDAQ: NGEN) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing first-in-class neuroreparative therapeutics for spinal cord injury.

NervGen’s mission is to transform the lives of individuals living with SCI by enabling the nervous system to repair itself. NervGen’s lead therapeutic candidate, NVG-291, is a subcutaneously administered, neuroreparative peptide designed to target the inhibitory CSPG-PTPσ pathway. NVG-291 is the first pharmacologic candidate to improve function, independence, and quality of life in chronic SCI, as observed in the Phase 1b/2a CONNECT SCI study. NVG-291 has received Fast Track designation from the FDA and Orphan Drug designation from the European Medicines Agency for the treatment of SCI. Through NVG-291 and the Company’s next-generation candidate, NVG-300, NervGen is pursuing a pharmacologic approach to transform the treatment paradigm for neurotraumatic and neurologic conditions with significant unmet medical need.

Today, we announced that the first participant has been dosed in RESTORE, our Phase 3 study of NVG-291 for people living with chronic spinal cord injury.

RESTORE will evaluate whether NVG-291 can improve functional recovery and quality of life, building on the improvements observed in CONNECT SCI.

On September 30th, NVG-291 will be in focus.

At NervGen’s inaugural R&D Day, four leading experts across spinal cord injury clinical care, outcome assessment, translational research and community advocacy will join NervGen management.

Together, they will examine NVG-291’s scientific foundation and broader therapeutic potential, Phase 1 and Phase 1b/2a clinical data, and the design and rationale of RESTORE, our Phase 3 registrational study.

The presentations will be followed by a live question-and-answer session.

Did you know? An analysis of structured community feedback led by NASCIC was recently published in Spinal Cord. It found that 87% of participants living with traumatic cervical SCI emphasized that the success of a potential treatment should be measured through functional tasks — not muscle grading alone.

Hand and arm function, bowel and bladder control, and trunk stability emerged as consistent recovery priorities. Participants described how even incremental gains in these areas could support greater independence, reduce reliance on continuous assistance and create more flexibility in everyday decisions.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of World SCI Day, a global initiative led by The International Spinal Cord Society - ISCoS.

This year’s theme, “From Awareness to Action: Ten Years Advancing SCI Prevention,” recognizes the progress made while keeping attention on the work still ahead.

Moving from awareness to action requires ensuring that individuals living with SCI play a meaningful role in shaping research priorities and how future treatments are developed and evaluated. The September 29 SCI Patient-Focused Drug Development (PFDD) Meeting is an important part of that broader effort.

September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month — a time to listen to and learn from individuals living with SCI and to recognize the experiences, priorities and challenges that shape their daily lives.

Throughout the month, we’ll share firsthand perspectives, highlight realities that often go unrecognized and explore how the priorities of the SCI community can inform research, clinical-trial design and treatment development.

On September 29, the SCI Patient-Focused Drug Development Meeting will provide an important forum for individuals living with SCI and their caregivers to share directly with the FDA, researchers, clinicians and treatment developers what matters most to them.
