I recorded a voice memo from my mom van yesterday.
Then I turned it into a podcast.

So my ideas — and my expertise — can show up in AI search.

Here's how it turned out. 👇

STOP Creating Content. START Documenting Expertise.

Article ✍️ | by Ashley Smith

If you’re an experienced professional who relies on relationships and referrals to grow your business — I have good news.

While the rules are changing (fast), you don’t have to become a “content creator” to scale if it’s simply not your thing.

You don’t need to entertain, you don’t need to keep up with the ever-changing algorithms, and you don’t need to chase an audience.

Sure, doing those things well can be serious nice-to-haves — especially if you’re naturally charismatic, enjoy the spotlight, and have the energy to commit to an effective social strategy.

But in the era of AI search, a practical system grounded in digital proof and credibility can easily outperform inconsistent attempts at going viral.

In my last article, we looked at The Proof Gap — the silent risk where a professional’s real-world brilliance remains completely invisible to modern search and AI engines because it isn’t documented or searchable online.

Today, I want to share some tactical ways to close that gap without losing your sanity.

It requires a fundamental shift in how you view your daily work, and a clearer understanding of the modern online environment.

💡 THE ULTIMATE REFRAME: DOCUMENT vs. CREATE 💡

Many professionals hit a wall with their digital presence before they even start. They look at a blank profile or a blinking cursor and debate ways to manufacture worthwhile content from scratch.

It feels unnatural. It feels forced.

We’ve all felt this content trap — the uncomfortable pressure to post something… anything. And the output usually feels generic, shallow, or transparently try-hard — all in service of an algorithm that immediately demands more.

When you’re a serious practitioner with a business to run, it’s easy for frustration to creep in. It feels like a vanity project. So, you close the app and decide your time is better spent elsewhere.

But you know remaining invisible online is no longer a safe bet.

So, what’s the alternative?

It requires a highly intentional shift in strategy: Stop creating. Start documenting.

📸 CAPTURING PROOF = YOUR IP AT WORK 📸

Think about it. You’re already distributing valuable IP every day. You do it through comprehensive client emails, nuanced text threads, and high-stakes strategy sessions.

What feels like a typical conversation on your end might just be the most insightful perspective someone hears all day.

You’re already doing the heavy lifting. You have the proof. Now you just have to capture it.

When you document your expertise, you aren’t inventing anything new. You’re simply turning your real-time thinking and judgment into a permanent digital asset — an asset that Google and AI search tools can actually read, index, and use to recommend you.

📐 THE PROOF BLUEPRINT: A REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE 📐

To understand what genuine documentation looks like, let’s step away from generic marketing advice and look at a complex, real-world scenario:

Imagine an experienced real estate advisor working with a seasoned real estate investor. The investor is nervous about a multi-family property requiring significant capital improvements in a rental market facing downward pressure. To evaluate her options, she needs to navigate changing local tenancy legislation, rising interest rates, housing market projections — all against the backdrop of an uncertain global economy.

A rookie agent might offer a generic market update, or repeat anecdotes they heard around the office...

But an elite professional sits down and shares a comprehensive, highly strategic analysis breaking down short-term positioning and long-term strategies. They offer nuanced judgment on risk mitigation and cash-flow stabilization.

That review is a world-class asset. It’s also an undeniable baseline of proof.

🔎 MAKE IT DISCOVERABLE 🔎

Instead of letting that insight live and die in a private email folder, documentation means stripping out the client’s personal data, keeping the core strategic analysis, and publishing it as a clean article or case study. Suddenly, that real-world practice becomes public proof.

When an AI assistant or search engine eventually crawls the web looking for an expert who understands complex local investment strategies in that specific market, it won’t recommend the Instagram user posting hustle-culture content with “real estate investment advisor” in the bio.

It will recommend the specialist who effectively documented their lived experience, judgment, and thinking.

ℹ️ HOW TO DO IT ℹ️

The P-R-O-O-F Workflow

In my launch article, I promised to break down my favourite, lowest-friction method for capturing daily brilliance without losing hours (or your mind).

If you lack the time, desire, or system to showcase your expertise through traditional written form, this conversational approach to capturing your thinking will be your ultimate unfair advantage.

Yes, I’m talking about "podcasts".

But more accurately, I’m talking about "unpodcasts".

You do not need a high-production studio, a flashy media company, or an editorial team. You simply need a phone or computer, perhaps some wired headphones, and a peer.

🔥 P-R-O-O-F in ACTION 🔥

Here’s how to turn normal conversations into a repeatable evidence engine:

▫️ P — Position
Instead of trying to manufacture an article, hop on a 20-minute audio or video call with a colleague, an aligned professional, or a vendor. Unpack a complex problem you solved this week (like the investor scenario above), share the top questions you’re being asked, or break down a recent market shift. Talk naturally, expert-to-expert.

▫️ R — Record
Forget production polish. If you find you enjoy the medium, you can introduce fancier equipment down the road. For now, just hit record. Take the raw file and trim out any internal chatter not meant for public consumption. You can instantly enhance the audio using a free tool like Adobe Podcast.

▫️ O — Original
AI search rewards primary sources. By sharing your unique POV and original insights, you're earning real digital authority over time. Be intentional and consistent with your core themes, but remember discoverability lives in the details. Every recorded file should have a clean title and description summary. Prioritize clarity over cleverness so search engines understand you — ensure your name, professional title, and website are explicitly mentioned or linked.

▫️ O — Optimize
Publish these recorded conversations as a podcast. Beginner-friendly (and cost-friendly) hosts like Buzzsprout automatically distribute your files to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and more. This creates a permanent RSS feed. Modern search engines increasingly reward this type of authentic conversational audio over generic content, because real human voices and lived insights are what shape it.

▫️ F — Flywheel
This is where the compounding leverage happens. Today, most podcast hosting and streaming platforms automatically generate full text transcripts of your audio. Grab that raw transcript and drop it into your AI tool of choice. Prompt it to draft a 700 to 900-word article based on your recorded conversation, highlighting the core themes or "top 3 takeaways”. Publish the article somewhere searchable (e.g., LinkedIn newsletter, Beehiiv, Substack, your website blog).

With one 20-minute conversation, you have simultaneously created an original text asset for AI search engines, an audio asset that demonstrates deep nuance, and a permanent piece of digital evidence that works for you in the background.

🚀 SCALING PROOF 🚀

Once you get the hang of this system, you can keep the flywheel spinning — upload conversations to YouTube, clip them into short segments, or pull quotes for quick social media captions. Use any of these assets to enhance your direct email communications too.

But don't forget the golden rule: You do not need an audience to show your proof. Everything listed in the P-R-O-O-F workflow above can be executed with zero followers. In fact, many high-level professionals prefer to release initial assets quietly to build confidence before sharing with their broader network.

🛠️ BONUS: MY CURRENT TECH STACK 🛠️

If you want to streamline this entire system with minimal tech friction, here are tools I use and recommend. (Full transparency: these are affiliate links, but I'm only sharing platforms I've personally used for years. If you're interested, you may as well get the discounts.)

▫️ The Recording Studio: 🎬 Skip Zoom and use Riverside (Riverside - Formerly Riverside.fm). It records high-definition local video and audio remotely, has built-in "one-click" editing to trim out the fluff, and uses AI integrations to make a cheap wired microphone sound more like a professional studio setup. If you want to try it, use the link below for an insider discount.

▫️ The Distribution Hub: 🌐 I use Buzzsprout to handle the podcast hosting and RSS feed. It is incredibly straightforward, and you can grab a new user credit if you sign up using the link below.

🎯 YOUR MINIMUM VIABLE PROOF 🎯

You do not need to do this every day. You do not need an endless archive.

You just need Minimum Viable Proof. Two or three of these deeply structured, conversational assets are enough to validate your reputation when a referred client looks you up. Add just a couple each month, and you'll quickly build a meaningful portfolio of proof.

Building intentional MVP over time creates a durable competitive advantage. While others rely on static websites and dormant social media accounts, you're steadily building searchable evidence of your expertise.

Stop trying to feed the content monster if it’s not your thing. And more importantly, stop feeling guilty about it. Instead, understand how the internet is changing, how consumer behaviour is evolving, and know that you can commit to an effective alternative.

Also — recognize the opportunity. Most professionals won’t do a thing.

💭 CLOSING THOUGHTS 💭

Look at the emails you sent last week, or look at the biggest problem you solved today.

Find the answers you’re already giving, hit record, and show your proof.

THE PROOF GAP: Why Real-World Experts Are Becoming Invisible in the Age of AI Search

Article ✍️ | by Ashley Smith

If you've used Google over the past few months, you've probably noticed that the 25-year-old search box has undergone its most radical overhaul in history...

At the annual Google I/O conference in May, the tech giant officially transitioned away from the classic model of blue links.

Powered by the newest version of Gemini, the search bar now expands into an interactive AI conversational field, inviting searchers to get specific with their inquiries. Even more disruptive, Google introduced 24/7 "Search Agents" — autonomous AI tools that constantly monitor, synthesize, and filter the web on a person’s behalf — in the background, while users get on with their lives.

The internet is no longer a library of websites. It has officially shifted into an ecosystem of AI-driven summaries and recommendations.

🤔 SO WHAT? 🤔

If that sounds like technical noise, here’s what it means for your business in plain English:

The way high-value prospects find, vet, and buy from premium specialists has completely transformed.

This creates a massive hidden risk for established business leaders. If a client assigns an AI search assistant to source or vet an expert, and your online presence consists entirely of static templates, sparse profiles, or an echo chamber of automated or recycled marketing — you face a quiet, modern crisis.

I call it The Proof Gap.

It's the critical disconnect between an expert’s actual, real-world capability and what modern search engines and AI models can verify online.

👀 THE VIEW FROM THE TRENCHES 👀

I didn’t arrive at this conclusion as an AI enthusiast or a digital marketing guru. I spent nearly two decades as a highly engaged REALTOR® — serving on various industry boards, including as Chair and media spokesperson of a major metropolitan real estate association representing over 14,000 professionals.

My career was built in the trenches alongside elite, relationship-driven practitioners who constructed empires on handshakes, deep localized wisdom, and tireless real-world ex*****on.

And that’s exactly why I’m waving this flag today: because the people most at risk of being overlooked or dismissed in the AI search era aren't the amateurs or the surface-level marketers. They are the true masters who kept their heads down and did a ton of heavy lifting offline.

🤝 TRUST MATTERS 🤝

Historically, established leaders have successfully relied on their real-world reputations to carry business forward. While I was a keen early adopter of social media — because I was young with limited resources — I always understood my peers' logic:

“My clients know me, my colleagues respect me, and my phone rings based on word-of-mouth. Why fuss with the internet?”

But in 2026, the mechanics of trust have changed.

Even the most high-trust, word-of-mouth referrals do their due diligence before making the final call. They look for validation. And increasingly, they’re asking ChatGPT who to consider.

When an elite professional remains quiet online, their real-world authority is vulnerable to an algorithmic blind spot.

❌ THE AUDIENCE FALLACY ❌

When faced with this reality, many folks feel an immediate sense of anxiety or overwhelm. They look at the current digital landscape and assume they have to participate in the frantic content creator hamster wheel.

“Just post more.” — “Go viral.” — “Build a community.”

This is The Audience Fallacy.

✅ PROOF OVER PERFORMANCE ✅

To be completely clear: a strong social strategy and an engaged audience certainly have their place in modern business. They are incredibly powerful tools for capturing broad attention.

But attention is not the same thing as trust.

You do not need a massive following to scale an elite business, and you do not need to become a full-time content creator. In fact, most high-ticket prospects aren't looking for hype or surface-level marketing tactics.

They’re looking for safety, depth, and proven judgment.

Ironically, AI may increase the value of genuine expertise. As the internet becomes flooded with cheap, automated content, people and AI systems are getting better at recognizing specificity, contextual depth, demonstrated judgment, and real-world nuance.

The future won’t exclusively belong to the loudest voices online. It will belong to the clearest and most credible ones.

🎯 PROOF ≠ NOISE 🎯

The solution to your Proof Gap isn't to add more noise. It’s to build a focused portfolio of digital Proof Assets.

An AI model can't fake a 30-year track record in a local market or community. It cannot replicate the complex problem-solving you deliver to clients around a kitchen table or in a boardroom. But right now, that invaluable wisdom is likely confined inside your head, sent message folders, or private offline records.

To win in the age of conversational search, you need a simple system that documents and formats your judgment and POV for modern algorithms — and modern consumers — to instantly recognize your authority.

🔎 BUILDING MINIMUM VIABLE PROOF (MVP) 🔎

Shifting your online presence from invisible to intentionally designed doesn't require a high-production media studio or full-time content staff. It requires a commitment to Minimum Viable Proof.

Consider yourself: What proof do you need to feel confident investing in a specialized service? You probably look for real ex*****on, clear judgment, and verified capability. Minimum Viable Proof is simply flipping that lens back onto your own business, ensuring you offer that same baseline of confidence to prospective clients and partners online.

💭 HOW? 💭

You can start optimizing your digital authority tomorrow by executing on low-lift, high-leverage strategies that fit into your current operations:

▫️ The Outbox Audit: 📧 Look through the custom advice or analytical breakdowns you sent to clients this month. Strip out the names, anonymize the information, and format that raw real-world wisdom into short, indexable case studies. You’ve already done 90% of the work; you just need to publish the proof.

▫️ The Voice-Memo Pipeline: ✍️ Record simple, unedited voice notes on your phone after client meetings. Document key challenges, core questions, and how you solved them. Synthesize your thoughts into a monthly brief that addresses what’s actually happening on the ground.

▫️ The Conversational Audio Framework: 🎙️ Instead of a high-production podcast, record short, structured peer-to-peer dialogues. The audio files can be easily transcribed by AI, formatted into "top takeaway" articles, and indexed by search crawlers to establish deep contextual authority. (Oh, and still publish the recordings as a podcast. You don't need listeners... more on this soon.)

▫️ The Algorithmic Trust Signal: 👋 Ensure your professional profiles clearly feature your institutional milestones — your board service, your leadership timelines, and your localized expertise. Make your credibility easy for both people and search systems to understand and confidently recommend.

🚀 THE OPPORTUNITY LANDSCAPE 🚀

The internet is becoming flooded with cheap, automated, AI-generated noise. Because the barrier to entry for generic content is now zero, the value of true human experience has never been higher.

This creates a serious generational opportunity. Experienced professionals have paid their dues, earned their stripes, and accumulated decades of judgment. While they traditionally have the lightest digital footprint, this generation has the most tangible value to offer our modern digital landscape.

🤜🤛 THE MULTI-GENERATIONAL BRIDGE 🤜🤛

This environment also opens up a fascinating collaborative advantage for businesses. Newer professionals entering a field possess fluency with digital tools, but they often lack a deep track record. Conversely, established leaders possess decades of verified offline proof but lack the online delivery systems.

When these generations collaborate — pairing a veteran perspective with modern ex*****on — they build an unshakeable market position that AI cannot replicate.

💡 FINAL THOUGHTS 💡

Those who act now to anchor their true authority online will secure a structural advantage that protects client funnels, amplifies referral networks, and builds enterprise value that can support future business succession.

Your expertise is real. It’s time for the internet to prove it.

I Got AI to Recommend My Business in 3 Weeks

I didn’t “go viral.”
I didn’t build a big audience.
I didn’t become a content creator.

But within a few weeks…

AI tools can already:
– describe what I do
– explain my expertise
– and recommend me

That’s the shift most people are missing.

It’s not about being popular online.
It’s about being understood.

Because AI can only recommend what it can see and verify.

And right now?
A lot of experienced professionals are completely invisible to it.

This is what I call the “Proof Gap.”

Not a lack of expertise —
a lack of visible proof.

👇 Curious — what would AI say about you today?

04/19/2026

Look yourself up.
Then look up your industry.

Search for the kinds of things a potential clientor customer would be looking for.

What shows up? 👀
Is it aligned with who you are today?Or who you were 5 years ago?
Is it showing your real expertise?
Or almost nothing at all?

If there’s a gap between what you knowand what shows up…

You’re not alone.
That’s where most professionals are right now.

👇 What did you notice when you searched?

PS. Need help assessing yourself?
Comment PROOF. 💬

04/19/2026

If someone tried to look you up today…
would they actually find anything meaningful?

Most professionals assume:
👉 “my experience speaks for itself”

But online, if it’s not visible — it doesn’t exist.

Try this:

1. Google your name (incognito)
2. Search what you do (not your name)
3. Ask AI: “who are experts in [your field]?”

👉 Do you show up?
👉 And if you do… does it reflect your actual expertise?

If not — that’s the gap.

I call it the Proof Gap.

💬 Comment “PROOF” if you want the full 🆓 self-assessment. 🙌

04/19/2026

People don’t search the way they used to — and that’s quietly changing how professionals get found, evaluated, and hired.

👉 Take the free 2-minute PROOF Score self-assessment:

Clients are no longer just typing “best realtor” or “top consultant.”
They’re asking detailed, trust-based questions in Google and AI tools — and expecting real answers.

If your expertise isn’t clearly visible in those moments, you may not show up at all.

In this episode, I break down:

how search behavior is changing
why experienced professionals are often invisible online
what I call the PROOF Gap
why this is a massive opportunity right now
how to start checking what actually shows up when people search for you

Your expertise isn’t the problem.
Your visibility might be.

Who this is for:
Realtors, consultants, advisors, lawyers, and service-based professionals who rely on trust, reputation, and referrals.

04/19/2026

Most experienced professionals don’t have an expertise problem.
They have a visibility problem.

I tested something and within a few days, Google and AI tools were already associating my name with the ideas I’m working on.

I recorded simple, podcast-style conversations and distributed the audio across platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify — creating structured, indexable signals of my expertise.

No audience.
No big strategy.
No polished content.

Just clear, structured signals of expertise.

In this video, I walk through exactly what I did — and why this matters in a world where AI and search are increasingly deciding who gets found, trusted, and chosen.

This is what I call the Proof Gap — the gap between your real expertise and what the internet can actually see.

If you’re an experienced professional who hasn’t been showing up online in a meaningful way, this shift matters more than you think.

04/19/2026

If you’re an experienced professional, your expertise should be working for you online.

But for most people… it isn’t.

There’s a gap between what you know — and what the internet can actually see.

That’s what I call the Proof Gap.

In this video, I break down what actually shows your expertise online — and why it has nothing to do with followers, likes, or posting more content.

Because today, people don’t just trust experience — they search for it.

And increasingly, decisions are influenced by:
— Google search
— social platforms
— and AI tools that surface expertise based on what they can find online

So what actually counts?

Proof is evidence of how you think, what you know, and why someone should trust you.

In this video, I walk through:
— what “proof” really means (in practical terms)
— examples of proof assets you may already have
— and how to start capturing your expertise in a way that’s discoverable

You don’t need to become a content creator.

You just need to start turning what you already do — conversations, insights, experience — into something the internet can understand.
