Growing up in Vancouver, my first concert was

All of 145 pounds, I got tossed around pretty good in the mosh pit and ended up with a bloodied nose. Stage crew pulled me up on stage, I gave the crowd a salute, before I was promptly thrown out the back of the club into the alley.

I stumbled into the McDonalds and used their napkins to soak up the blood and clean up. From there, I plead my case to the bouncer who, surprisingly, let me back in.

I think I’m probably past the mosh pit stage of life, but left me wondering if perhaps I should venture back in. 🤔

This Highkicks album might just be the funnest record you can buy on Curb for $3.

✔️ Coloured Vinyl (red)
✔️ Autographed
✔️ Indy Canadian Artist
✔️ Hits Hard

For those unfamiliar with the Highkicks, here is a little something from the band; Why the Highkicks? Because Chuck Norris can’t rock and Jet Li doesn’t know s**t about fuzz bass.

We’ll be dropping a bunch more $3 albums over the weekend just for our social followers.

One of the rarest records sold to date on Curb; a rare Canadian first pressing of The Smith’s iconic The Queen is Dead album. The best part of starting this project is putting vinyl like this into the hands of folks who really appreciate it. We’ve got a big surprise in the works for the community. Stay tuned!

For every modern record sold through Curb, we see 20-30 classics sell. Do you think it’s because classic music is better or is it just because there is more of it? We like to mix it up and we’re hoping to see more and more genres added to Curb’s catalog from sellers around Vancouver.

Imagine is truly a special song. I feel like most people have a story of how it got them through a specific time in their lives. For me, whenever I hear it I think back to my solo backpacking trip in Morocco 🇲🇦 I’d been invited on a camel trek in the Sahara dessert with a group on Swiss travellers. On the way back to Marrakech the tour bus kept stopping at tourist traps where we would be led through town and drained of the little money we had. After each tour we’d have to pay additional fees for the pleasure. After 2-3 of these I decided to take a pass and wander the town we’d stopped in on my own. The bus operator wasn’t pleased as he was clearly getting a kickback for providing tourists for these traps. As a result, he hurried the tour along and tried to leave without me - before our agreed upon meeting time. He threw my backpack out of the van and attempted to drive off. If it weren’t for my Swiss friends he would have succeeded in leaving me stranded in central Morocco. As you might imagine, the atmosphere on the bus was quite tense for the next leg of the trip. But then something surreal happened. ‘Imagine’ came on the radio. One by one, every passenger started humming and singing including me and the driver I had been waring with. It was all smiles from then on. Peace is so much easier ✌️

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to BB King by my dad at around 11 years old. My parents were going through a split, we were living in Prince George, and I suspect BB’s moody blues we’re hitting just right for most members of our family. There wasn’t much to do on a Friday night in PG, but there was an all-ages pool hall that had live blues and jazz bands coming through on a regular basis. Going to those shows and watching folks cover the music of legends like Mr King was certainly a highlight of those times. If anyone knows the name of the place I’d love to have my memory refreshed.

The more record bins you dig through, the more you realize how many one hit wonders the industry has produced. Do you think Lorde is a future icon or a passing fad? we’ve got a copy of her debut album ‘Pure Heroine' on Curb🎵 This record, released in 2013, showcased Lorde's unique sound and powerful lyricism, and put her on the map as a rising star in the music industry. Hits like 'Royals' and 'Team' have become anthems for a generation, and the album as a whole has received critical acclaim for its boldness and authenticity. If you haven't given 'Pure Heroine' a listen yet, do yourself a favor and check it out! 🙌
