Attended today’s zoom regarding new changes coming for 2024 for the RRAP program:

Here are the key points:

All 5 RRAP programs, HASI and ERP are now under the same basic heading of RRAP. There is no specific funding groups such as HASI or ERP, just all under RRAP now.

Nations will/should be receiving their notices this week if they were successful in receiving RRAP allocations for this year.

If a Nation is selected, they will be notified how much their allocation is for.

They have 12 months to complete the renovations that they identify. This timeline applies to all programs.

Base of $60K per unit is allowed with another $15K for HASI and ERP if identified as well as +/- 25% for Northern. (same as before).

Each application can now have up to (4) units for a total of $240K instead of a single application per unit.

Once an application is approved, Nations will get the money upfront, this will enable them to pre-order materials etc..

No inspections are required before or after. Nations can still request same, but for the funding side, they are not required.

There is $8 million allocated across the country.
Application deadline for Nations who receive allocations in Jan 29 to Feb 16.

Stacking with other funding sources is allowed, ie: ISC and other funding sources.
Private owners cannot apply directly but they can apply through their nation. The Nation has to do the application as the agreement is between CMHC and the Nation. The Nation then needs to do a funding agreement with the private owner.

CMHC will be sending the recording and slides next week

Please see the website for further details and clarification:

Arctic Outflow Warning – Lax Kw’alaams Territory

Please ensure children are dressed in winter clothing, including jackets, hats and gloves.

Lax Kw’alaams maintenance recommends residents to leave their taps dripping at a slow pace (5-6 drips per minute) to prevent pipes from freezing. Do not leave water running steadily, as this may impact water reservoir levels overall. Please also be mindful not to plug in too many heaters on the same circuit – to prevent electrical fires.

For any emergency plumbing or maintenance issues in Lax Kw'alaams, please contact the maintenance department at 250-625-3156 or email [email protected]

From Environment Canada:
Strong outflow winds and cold wind chill is expected until at least the end of the week on the North Coast. Risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

Arctic air, combined with strong outflow winds, will generate wind chill values of -20 to -30 across the coastal and inland sections of the north and central coast. Wind chill values may moderate this weekend but uncertainty remains on the timing of the warm-up.

Frostbite and hypothermia can occur within minutes if adequate precautions are not taken when outdoors.

Ensure that shelter is provided for pets and outdoor animals. Be prepared for unusually cold temperatures and strong winds.
