Gibraltar Mine and the Central Interior Rural Division Partner to Strengthen Rural Health Care

Trekor's Gibraltar Mine and the Central Interior Rural Division of Family Practice (CIRD) are pleased to announce a new partnership bringing together industry and healthcare to support physician and nurse practitioner recruitment, training, and retention across the Cariboo-Chilcotin region.

Gibraltar has provided a fully furnished home that the Division will use to accommodate medical students, nurse practitioner students, resident physicians, and locum physicians during their placements in Williams Lake.

The new housing will help address a significant gap, making it easier to welcome medical and nurse practitioner learners and temporary physicians into the community while supporting local recruitment and retention efforts.

For Gibraltar, the initiative reflects an investment in the long-term health and well-being of the communities where its employees and their families live and work.

Trekor’s Gibraltar Mine was pleased to contribute $4,500 towards the installation of a wheelchair-accessible picnic table and the revitalization of the interpretive sign at Scout Island Nature Centre, in Williams Lake, BC.

Gibraltar employees also rolled up their sleeves and spent a day tackling invasive weeds, clearing debris from trails, and rebuilding a set of stairs to help preserve and enhance access to trailheads.

Thank you to the Scout Island Nature Centre team for hosting the team and for the incredible work you do to protect and share this natural area, at the heart of Williams Lake.

.COM: Florence Copper Mine Must Triple Output to Hit Trekor Target: CEO

The world’s first in-situ copper recovery (ISCR) operation, located just over 100 km southeast of Phoenix, produced 6.7 million lb. in the six months ended June 30. That included 5.2 million lb. in the second quarter, the operation’s first full three-month operating period.

Trekor also advanced permitting at the Yellowhead Project, receiving a positive Readiness Decision from the Government of British Columbia in late July.

MSABC Visits Gibraltar mine on Inaugural Roadshow

This past Spring, Trekor and Gibraltar Mine were proud to host the Mining Suppliers Association of BC (MSABC)’s and their members at Gibraltar Mine.

The event brought together mining suppliers and industry partners for a behind-the-scenes look at one of Canada’s largest copper mines.

Attendees toured the Gibraltar site, including the open pit and maintenance shop.

We appreciate the opportunity to showcase Gibraltar and strengthen relationships across British Columbia’s mining industry.
