Position: Contract, Full-Time
Duration: 6 months
Salary: $3,000 / month
Start Date: Immediate
Note: This position is conditional upon Rockburst Technologies securing funding from the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Program or similar funding programs.
Rockburst Technologies is looking for a Jr. Software Engineer to join our research division and support our ongoing experimental programs for the development of our novel Transcritical CO2 Pulverization (tCO2) technology. This is an exciting role that has direct influence to shape the development of a new technology in the mining industry with large implications for energy reduction.
The ideal candidate will be working closely with our Experiment Lead to develop and maintain custom control programs key to run scientific experiments on our installed prototypes. The candidate will primarily work remotely with the Experiment Lead, but will need to visit the prototypes in person from time to time to familiarize with the experimental prototypes and processes, and validate the control programs. The prototypes are at the University of British Columbia, Point Grey Campus in Vancouver, BC.
Rockburst Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Envisioning Labs Inc., was founded in 2020 to research, develop and commercialize the tCO2 technology. Transcritical CO2 Pulverization (tCO2) is a new comminution process that is being pioneered by Rockburst Technologies as a significant energy reduction alternative to existing compression-based comminution technologies in the mining industry. We are a small, but agile team of innovation practitioners who take pride and pleasure in solving client and industry challenges that contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
This position will be considered for the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Program with Innovate BC, and the successful candidate must be qualified under this program. Please refer to the intern eligibility on Innovate BC’s website: https://www.innovatebc.ca/programs/hiring-grants/digital-skills-for-youth.
