Grad school has a way of changing how you look at the work you’re already doing.

You start bringing more of your own experience into the conversation, asking better questions, and seeing familiar ideas from a different angle. And little by little, what you’re learning in class starts showing up in how you think, work, and make decisions outside of it too.

Learning looks a little different when you get to put it into practice.

As part of her MEd in Leadership, Camila completed an internship with the Resource Development team at Providence in Calgary, where she had the chance to apply leadership skills while learning more about community engagement, events, and organizational processes.

A great example of how classroom learning can continue well beyond the classroom.

Leadership shows up in the way we make decisions, support people, respond to change, and move ideas forward.

In CityU’s Master of Education in Leadership, students build on the experience they already have while developing the skills, perspective, and practical knowledge to take on more responsibility in their work.

From research and decision-making to collaboration and real-world application, the program is designed to help students grow into the kind of leaders their teams and communities need.

Swipe through for a closer look at what that can involve.

As the term picks up, it’s easy for school, work, and everything else to start competing for the same headspace.

That’s why it’s worth knowing what support is available before you ever need to go looking for it. CityU students have access to a range of mental health and wellness resources throughout the year, from confidential counselling to crisis support.

Keep this one saved for yourself, a classmate, or anyone in the CityU community who might find it useful.

Grad school doesn’t always have to mean choosing between flexibility and connection.

CityU’s mixed-mode format blends online learning with scheduled in-person sessions, giving students more room to balance school with work, family, and everything else already on their plate.

It’s a way to stay connected to your cohort and faculty while keeping more flexibility in how you learn.
