The final day of shooting for my portfolio and I had three photo sessions planned in Vancouver, with three beautiful dancers from da Costa Talent. I woke up that morning to pouring rain. Time to get creative.

Last shoot of the day, and I met up in the evening with Paige. I have a special place in my heart for a dancer who shows up in a '50s look, and then pulls out a pair of pointe shoes. She was a blast to work with - adorable, feisty and glamorous. What a perfect end to my day, and my project.

After my morning shoot, sheltered inside, I met up with Cailey - a quiet powerhouse - beautiful and bendy - she always had a serene happiness on her face when she danced. Through our wanderings in the rain we found a teeny tiny treed park on the water, some pretty awesome overhangs, and a mostly outdoor subway station. Not the beach, and still a fun afternoon!

First up, Christie - a stunning dancer/choreographer with the heart of Broadway - paired with Renan, a beautiful Brazilian ballerino, these two were a riot to work with. And so versatile, they could go from silly to fierce, moody to playful. Taking refuge from the rain in a gorgeous building on Granville Island, it was the perfect playground for our morning together.

Dylan was one of the very first dancers I photographed - back when the portfolio project started. A confident and energetic Ukrainian dancer, he can leap and leap and leap. He can go from standing still to being suspended in mid air in a blink of an eye, like a spring.

After returning home from Chicago, I met up with him again for a quick shoot to play with the setting sun. This time he left the boots at home, and brought the bad ass with him.

I had an extra day in Chicago and was connected with this amazing dancer. Sean has such a peaceful and powerful soul. We wandered the surprisingly quiet downtown and found a parking garage with roof access. When the sun would break from the clouds, Sean would dance. No music, no audience, just his breath. It was moving. We wandered on and meandered through the gardens behind the Art Institute and found this incredible walkway. Setting sun and soft grass - perfect end to the afternoon.

On a cloudy morning in Chicago, I met up with this beautiful dancer - poised, graceful, fashionista in pointe shoes. We took advantage of the scenery indoors at the Cultural Center - and finished up just in time as they were closing down for a private event - for President Obama :)

Final edits are in to the printer for my portfolio submission! Which means I will soon have time to share with you the stunning dancers I have been photographing the past week and a bit - Chicago, Victoria, and Vancouver!
