RACHELLE KANEFSKY and CAROL WATTERSON love books, in all of their forms. Their professional roots are in the ever-changing Canadian publishing landscape, where for 25+ years they’ve each worked in a variety of roles. Both in-house and as independent publishing professionals, they’ve honed their skills in every aspect of the industry, from acquisitions, contracts, rights and development to editorial, production, design, and sales and marketing. Carol and Rachelle first learned the trade in some of Canada’s most esteemed publishing houses, including Macmillan Canada, HarperCollins, Raincoast Books, and ECW Press. In 1994, they both joined Raincoast, where they worked side by side on creating an impressive and enviable Canadian publishing program (remember Harry Potter?).
