The federal alcohol excise tax goes up today, about 2% across beer, wine, and spirits Canada-wide. 🍺🍷

World Cup is 11 weeks out and the LCRB application deadline is March 31.

The province said no to blanket extended hours, so every operator has to apply individually. That means if you want to extend service hours, open a patio, or apply for a drink price exemption during the tournament, you need to get your application into the LCRB portal before the end of this month.

Kamloops is bringing back its responsible liquor pilot for a full season (May 15 to October 1). Last year's data showed a 25% drop in park incidents during the pilot. More than a dozen BC municipalities are now running similar programs. This is exactly the kind of policy modernization we lobby for. Good to see it happening.

Congratulations to Queensborough Cannabis on the final approval of their fourth location — Queens Cannabis Co. at 19581 Fraser Highway, Surrey, BC. Surrey only allowed 12 cannabis stores for a city of nearly 600,000. Thirty-one operators applied. This application had a long road and a lot of work behind it. We're proud to have been part of it. Open daily 9 AM to 11 PM.

The BC LDB is allowing eligible manufacturers to direct deliver packaged refreshment beverages to wholesale customers. Breweries, distilleries, and wineries authorized to produce these products will have the option to bypass LDB distribution. It's a step in the right direction and we hope they extend it to all manufacturers next.
