With just over 20 games remaining for most NHL teams, it's time we started thinking about who is in the running for the 2026 Vezina Trophy awarded to the NHL's top goaltender.

Unfortunately Vejmelka is unlikely to win due to his lower advanced stats. Still, he could lead all goalies in games played this season and that deserves enormous credit. Thompson returns to his Capitals on a high after backing up his country at the Olympics, so watch out for his stock to rise as playoffs near.

Ultimately, at this point it appears Vasilevskiy has all but secured his second Vezina, and how can you not cheer for him. In 2023 Andrei went under the knife for a lumbar disc herniation, and faced an incredibly difficult recovery from the invasive surgery. This came after Vasi led his team to the Stanley Cup Finals three years in a row. The season he returned had some fans worried; he was unlike himself, posting a 2.90 GAA and a .900 save % in 52 regular season starts before his Lightning bowed out in the first round.

Last year should have cemented Vasi’s comeback, but his incredible season was unfortunately overshadowed by Connor Hellebuyck’s dominant, Hart winning campaign. This year is different; other than Sorokin and Thompson, not many challengers remain. Vasilevskiy is dialled!

It doesn’t seem fair that we have to wait four years for Olympic hockey, only for it to come and go in just over two weeks. But perhaps that is what gives the hockey played in its special essence; the fleeting nature of best on best competition.

We bid farewell to ! Thank you to everyone involved who brought us so many great moments, and to all the goalies for their incredible setups and efforts.

At the 2026 Olympics Connor Hellebuyck provided his rebuttal to months of criticisms stemming from his performances in the NHL playoffs with the Jets, and the Four Nations Faceoff last spring.

Team USA would not have gotten to the gold medal game, let alone won it without his calm confidence, especially late. Where does Hellebuyck rank amongst American goaltenders all time?

Last season was brutal for Philipp Grubauer. His confidence was gone, his timing was off, and his every mistake was magnified. It felt like years of hard work unraveled in an instant.

This season, Grubauer looks different. He is calmer, his stance taller, and his tracking is less reactionary; basically, he remember exactly who he is.

From a season that broke him, to a tournament that may crown him.

Logan Thompson leading Canada onto the ice 🇨🇦

Thompson proves that there is not one path to stardom. U Sports to the AHL, to earning trust at the highest level of the game, his career has been defined by patience, work ethic, and proving he belonged every step of the way.

Now he leads Team Canada as the starting goaltender vs Switzerland, a reminder that development doesn’t follow one script, and that late bloomers can still become difference makers when it matters most!
