My life has unalterably changed since the day I met 10 years ago. Saying yes to working with her set me on a trajectory of growth to the point where I am unrecognizable to myself today.

They say when the student is ready, the teacher appears 💫

I’m celebrating that last Sunday I graduated from the World Maker’s Leadership program 🎓✨

In the past 7 years I have…

𖥔 developed the capacity to relate to difference (so I can show up with more of me, and I get to see and understand more of you).

𖥔 healed my dependencies and grown my personal power.

𖥔 expanded my self trust and capacity to create interdependence (hint: it starts with independence).

𖥔 learned deep skills in facilitation and leadership.

𖥔 articulated and committed to my vision, my mission, and my conscious world view (essential ingredients to conscious leadership and life).

𖥔 made life long friendships rooted in sovereignty where our differences remain vibrant (as opposed to centering belonging through sameness).

𖥔 shifted the landscape of what is possible in my life, my relationships, my business, and myself.

Oh my goodness what a joy it was to meet my cohort in person for the first time ever, and to see other friends for the first time in years (hello pandemic).

I’m forever shaped by this work and these humans.

Fear is like a North Star pointing to the path of courage in your business. As a conscious & creative leader you’re no stranger to taking leaps of faith.

Whether you’re clarifying your vision, picking yourself back up after a period of self doubt, pitching a podcast to grow your reach, risking a more brave expression in your content, listening to your intuition (especially when it flies in the face of convention), or just taking a moment to connect within 😌✨

Every decision is a micro leap toward the story you most want to create.

So let me remind you that today is LEAP DAY. Literally a BONUS day (2024 has 366 days instead of the usual 365). What will you do with this gifted time?

So much can happen in 24 hours if you decide.

What brave action are you taking today?

MEET YOUR FACILITATOR
has been a fine artist and creative professional for 17 years. Her creativity suffered in the highly conceptual art school she attended and stopped painting for 7 years after doing her Bachelor of Fine Arts. She learned some process-oriented acrylic painting techniques at an art residency in Baja Mexico in 2013 that unlocked her creative practice, and exciting new work poured out of her. She has since integrated this technique with her research into creative flow state and embodiment to develop this transformational workshop. These practices support her and her students to maintain a vibrant creative practice to this day.

Day 8 | Lesson 8: Inner authority is the flex for (truly) embodied leadership 👉

Let your intuition be the CEO. Lead with your soul, not your resume.

Your education & accomplishments count for a lot, but at the end of the day, your soul mate clients want to feel YOU, not your achievements.

Inner authority is cultivated through the practice of discernment, embodied power, and taking radical responsibility for your innate gifts.

In many ways I’ve been forging my own way in life (and business) all along. But in my twenties, I latched onto a certain mentor to the point of losing myself. There came a point when I had to completely detach — and let me tell you it was a process to relearn to trust myself again.

I notice the grab for external signals of authority comes up for me when I’m disconnected from my innate power and intuition. This lesson is one I am actively integrating — I catch myself flashing my MBA or my leadership credentials (as if that is what makes me valuable).

But I know in my bones that my true value is intrinsic, that my singular perspective has been forged in the fires of risks I’ve taken and stories I’ve lived. That my most potent superpowers I never learned from a book or teacher, but came with me the day I was born and were honed through the contrast life offered me.

On the path to becoming a leader, we all face a moment when we must let our mentors go, and trust ourselves to forge ahead.

So let me ask you:
• How do you signal your authority in your business?
• Where are you imitating what your mentor said?
• What deep down do you know is true for you?
• What is your authentic difference & voice?

💾 Save this post & journal on these questions.

I’d love to hear anything you feel inspired to share in the comments.

Day 6 | Lesson 6: The surprisingly simple secret to impact and influence 👉

Articulate and commit to a world-making vision.
(I said it was simple, not necessarily easy).

In the last 6 years I have been deep in the study of leadership with Dr. Jenn McCabe, through the direct lineage of Carl Rogers (one of the founders of humanistic and person-centred psychology).

I am forever astounded by the power of a well-articulated vision in it’s capacity to impact and influence people.

Maybe you have experienced this too, through historic leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. who articulated his vision, “I dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” He led a civil rights movement that changed life for African Americans.

My journey in articulating my vision began the very first session of leadership, when I led my first congruent painting workshop with my vision ‘Regard Transforms’ — inviting my fellow leadership students to put aside judgment and regard their embodied expression in paint, and it was a transformative experience for all.

That was my personal vision, and has since become my mission statement, since it’s more of my HOW than a WHAT. It is a declaration of universal intent (try to find an instance when regard doesn’t transform something)...

As I complete my leadership training, my vision has become “Plurality is the amplifier of power and possibility” where plurality is the integrative engagement with difference in a world that fears it — from cancel culture, to political division, to identity wars, and more.

I hold a vision for a world where difference is celebrated, regarded, related to, and at the very least respected — and I’ve experienced first hand the amplification of personal power and possibility that plurality generates.

This is the world I’m creating with Brave Narrative — a world where your voice and your power are amplified, where fear and self censorship don’t win, where we are all leaders creating interdependent new possibilities with our work in the world.

Are you with me?

Day 5 | Lesson 5: Create this ONE HABIT to grow your business & your fulfillment 👉

Create a yearly learning plan. Invest in your personal and professional growth.

(Lesson no. 5 in longevity that I’ve learned from 9 years in business.) Featuring another throwback photo from a brand shoot I got done in 2016!

💾 First save this post!

I have always really valued personal growth. It’s a commitment to myself, my potential and my development, and also to my clients who I can show up for more powerfully the more I learn and grow.

From investing in...
• 7+ years of relational leadership development with Dr. Jenn McCabe
• going back to school for my MBA
• various coaching & biz development programs
• the ever-growing stack of books on my shelf 🤓
• 200 hr yoga teacher training in Costa Rica
• constantly researching & contemplating archetypes, astrology & HD
• Transcendental Meditation 🧘‍♀️
• EFT work for my mindset and nervous system with .yourmind
• not to mention learnings from 17 years entrepreneurial experience, regular market research, watching industry trends, and experiments in my business!

It’s safe to say I’ve become a truly life long learner 📚

This year I signed up for a business mastermind with to upgrade my skills in marketing, and get accountability, community & mindset support to reach my goals. It can be so helpful to learn from people who are where you want to be.

Try these 6 steps to create a learning + growth plan for yourself:
1. Define your business goals for the next 6-12 months.
2. Reflect on why this matters to you (aim for meaningful goals).
3. Identify key gaps & areas of learning & growth.
4. Find the resources that fit your learning style & budget.
5. Create a consistent learning schedule.
6. Implement learnings, measure progress & celebrate milestones.

No. 6 is KEY if you struggle with imposter syndrome and tend to stack courses and books to avoid taking ACTION in your business (I see you, and you’re not alone!) 🫣 Your growth edge may be in implementing, creating, & learning by doing!

So I’m curious! What’s one learning and/or growth objective you’re going after in 2024? Share in the comments!

Day 3 | Lesson 3: Name your brand for impact & longevity (read on for how) 👉

A strong brand name creates memorability, credibility, and longevity for your brand.

I named my business Brave Narrative because it was unique, memorable, and flexible enough to evolve with me.

Beyond graphic design, I knew my passion and skillset lied in telling stories and supporting people to be more courageous in their work in the world. I did all kinds of brainstorming, and then one day the name Brave Narrative struck me like lightning. ⚡

✅ The trademark search cleared!
✅ Domain name was available!
✅ Social media handles available!

I had landed on a winner!

Should you go with a personal name or a brand name?
Here are some criteria to help you decide:

🗣️ Option 1: Use your personal name
A personal name is a good choice when your unique personality & skillset are what people pay for (coaches, healers, creatives, solopreneurs).

PROS:
• Creates authenticity & a personal connection
• Builds personal legacy, Credibility & expertise
• Humanizes your brand, puts a face & personality behind the ideas
• Makes you more approachable
• Allows Flexibility beyond a specific niche

🗣️ Option 2: Use a brand name
A brand name is a good choice when your vision is to provide value beyond your personal identity, to build a team, or collaborate with others.

PROS:
• Provides privacy in your personal life
• Enables you to scale a team & collaborate
• Creates memorability & distinctiveness
• Easier to trademark & legally protect your IP
• Potentially transferable if you want to exit

Changing your brand name at some future date can be a royal PITA. Spending the time to get it right from the start helps you avoid:
• Losing brand recognition
• Confusing your audience
• Rebranding expenses
• Legal, trademark & business registration issues
• Search engine issues, loss of domain authority
• Changing social media handles & domain name

AND if you ever have to change your brand name, all of these challenges can be overcome. I’ve worked with a few clients that changed their name (because they got married for example).

Understanding your top two brand archetypes is a key pillar in creating a brand that has a clear narrative arc and an emotional connection with your ideal clients. Swipe to view the brand archetype wheel —>

Rooted in Jungian psychology and advertising, this system is a powerful way to manage the meaning in your brand.

Archetypes show up in our culture in movies and books, and in our daily lives in our personalities and the roles we play. The human mind makes sense of the world through storytelling, so why not leverage that power in your business to better convey the transformation you are inviting your clients to experience?

A Lover brand has a very different feel from a Hero brand — the promise is different, and the core desires of the customer will be different too.

Check the link in my bio to sign up and get free Brand Archetype guides for each archetype so you can determine your top two.

To use the archetypes to clarify your brand message, I’m available for brand story mapping and strategy sessions. Send me a dm for more info.

I don’t know where I’d be without you women who have inspired me with your wild art, your risk taking, your joy, your unapologetic love, and unabashed creativity.

I don’t know where I’d be without you women who believed in me, hired me, referred me, coached me, and held me capable when I doubted myself.

I don’t know where I’d be without you women who touched me with your stories, your dreams, your gifts, your doubts, and entrusted me to support you.

Thank all things holy for you, women.

I want creatives everywhere to know: innovation isn't just for tech bros 👏🏼

Our world needs more diverse, thoughtful & creative minds impacting and molding the world through business & leadership.

I LOVE working with creative types who don't fit into the usual boxes in business. The outliers, the unicorns, the ones who see the gaps and are tuned into cultural trends. THESE are the superpowers of the creative mindset.

From bridging fields like public health research & art like , or innovating culture with a q***r wedding & celebration planning business like .noodles, or an artist painting sound with her neurological superpower of Synesthesia like , creatives have a natural advantage when it comes to business innovation.

Maybe you don't love the way your industry does things. Maybe you have a cultural impact you want to make. You have an idea to do business differently, but it feels risky... You sense the payoff could be profound in the difference and money you could create, but where do you start?

Luckily there are simple & crucial ways to de-risk your business idea.

I've got the roadmap that supports creative and cultural innovators like you to step out of overwhelm and doubt to navigate the journey to a validated and successful business — aligned to you, your values, to set you up for the clarity and confidence to make your vision real. 👏

I'll be sharing the strategic steps to an aligned and validated creative business in a FREE workshop called The Aligned Business Roadmap on March 31st at 9am PST.

It won't be just another passive webinar. It will be live and relational, and will offer you actionable and practical steps to get started now.

Register today at the link in my bio.

Let’s reclaim the word innovation from the tech bros 🤓 and make the creative & cultural impact you’re capable of 👏🏼
