A customer in Downtown Vancouver contacted us because the left door on their Fisher & Paykel refrigerator had become difficult to close. The door was creating excessive resistance and no longer moved smoothly, making everyday use frustrating.

After a thorough inspection, our technician identified a faulty soft-close mechanism. This component helps control the door’s movement and ensures it closes properly without excessive force. Once the damaged mechanism was confirmed as the source of the problem, it was replaced with a new part.

After the repair, the refrigerator door returned to smooth, effortless operation and closed correctly as designed.

This repair is a good reminder that when a fridge door starts feeling heavy, stiff, or difficult to close, addressing the issue early can help prevent additional wear on hinges and door components.

A Vancouver homeowner reached out because their laundry room had stopped working the way it should. The dryer was running long without actually drying, and the washer had started leaking onto the floor.

When our technician arrived, he ran a full check on both machines before touching anything. The dryer’s heating element had failed, so the drum was tumbling but not getting hot. The washer leak traced back to a worn hose that had finally given out. On top of that, the vent line was packed with lint, which was a big reason the dryer was taking so long and a real fire hazard if left alone.

He replaced the faulty heating element, swapped out the leaking hose, and cleaned the full dryer vent from the machine all the way to the exterior. Before packing up, he ran both appliances through a cycle to confirm everything was back to normal. The dryer heats and dries on time again, the washer runs leak free, and the whole laundry room is safe and working the way it should.

That is how we handle every call. Find the real problem, fix it properly, and make sure it is running right before we leave.

A KitchenAid refrigerator was experiencing excessive ice and snow buildup inside the freezer compartment, making it difficult for the freezer door to close properly.

After a complete diagnostic inspection, our technician found that the defrost drain was blocked. When the drain cannot properly remove water during the defrost cycle, moisture accumulates and eventually freezes into thick layers of ice. Over time, this buildup can interfere with door operation, airflow, and overall cooling performance.

Our technician performed a full freezer service, cleared the clogged drain, removed the ice accumulation, and verified proper operation of the unit. Once the drain was restored and the freezer was serviced, the door closed correctly and the refrigerator returned to normal operation.

Identifying the root cause is essential when dealing with ice buildup issues. Simply removing the ice without addressing the blocked drain often leads to the same problem returning.

A customer in North Vancouver contacted us about a Dacor built-in wall oven that had developed an unusual noise during operation. Strange sounds coming from an oven are often a sign that a component is beginning to wear out and should be inspected before it leads to a larger problem.

After performing a full diagnosis, our technician found that the cooling fan bearings had failed. In this video, you can clearly hear the difference between the original fan and the new replacement. The old fan produces noticeable grinding and rattling noises, while the new fan operates smoothly and quietly.

Once the faulty cooling fan was replaced, the oven returned to normal operation with proper airflow, quieter performance, and reliable operation.

If your oven starts making unusual noises, addressing the issue early can help prevent additional damage and extend the life of the appliance.

A customer in Vancouver contacted us because their Miele coffee machine was no longer operating properly. After a thorough inspection, our technician identified a faulty grinder assembly that was preventing the machine from completing its brewing cycle.

The grinder is one of the most important components in a bean-to-cup coffee machine. When it fails, the machine may stop brewing, display errors, or produce inconsistent results.

Our technician replaced the defective grinder, tested the system, and verified that the coffee machine was functioning correctly again. The unit was returned to normal operation, allowing the customer to enjoy fresh coffee without the need for a costly replacement.

At EasyFix Appliance Repair, we service and repair a wide range of premium coffee machines, including Miele models, using a diagnostic-first approach to ensure accurate and reliable repairs.

No grind, no coffee. Simple as that. ☕

This Miele came in because it had gone completely silent at the grinding stage. Beans sitting in the hopper, nothing making it into the cup, and a very unhappy coffee drinker on the other end of the phone.

Turns out the grinder had seized solid. Over time the oils from the beans gum everything up, and eventually the motor just can’t turn anymore. So our tech pulled it apart, replaced the grinder, gave the whole machine a proper service to clear out the gunk, and ran it through a few cycles to be sure.
Back to a fresh cup every morning. 👌

Moral of the story: if your machine starts slowing down or sounding off at the grind, don’t wait until it quits completely. These are very repairable when you catch them early.

A customer contacted us because their GE refrigerator was leaking water from the back of the unit. Water leaks around a refrigerator can often lead to floor damage and are sometimes difficult to trace without a proper inspection.

During our diagnosis, our technician found that the plastic water line near the compressor had become brittle from years of exposure to heat. Over time, the tubing developed cracks, allowing water to leak whenever the dispenser was used.

Unfortunately, the complete filter housing assembly for this model was no longer available. Instead of recommending an unnecessary appliance replacement, our technician developed a custom repair solution by replacing the damaged section with a durable new water line designed to withstand the operating conditions around the compressor.

After testing the system, the leak was completely eliminated and the refrigerator's water dispenser was restored to normal operation.

This repair is a good example of why proper diagnostics matter. Sometimes the right solution isn't replacing the appliance or an entire assembly, but identifying the exact failure point and applying a reliable repair that extends the life of the unit.

A burnt smell coming from an oven should never be ignored.

In this recent service call in the Capilano area of North Vancouver, the customer reported that their Gaggenau built-in wall oven had a strong burnt smell and stopped operating properly. A previous electrical inspection had determined that the power supply was fine, so our technician began with a complete diagnostic of the appliance itself.

After carefully inspecting the oven's internal components, no faults were found inside the unit. During further testing, our technician noticed sparking near the electrical connection. Once the hardwired junction box was opened, the source of the problem became clear. Several wire connections had overheated, were improperly secured, and had begun melting due to excessive resistance and poor contact.

The damaged connections were corrected, the wiring was properly secured, and the electrical connection was restored to a safe operating condition. After testing, the Gaggenau oven was back up and running normally with no burning smell and full functionality restored.

Accurate diagnostics are often the difference between replacing expensive parts and finding the true cause of the problem. In this case, the appliance itself was not at fault. The issue was hidden in the power connection supplying the unit.

Dryer not heating properly? Sometimes the problem is more than just a failed part.

In this dryer repair completed in the University Hill area of Vancouver, our technician found the heating element heavily clogged with lint buildup. Excess lint around the heating system can restrict airflow, reduce drying performance, increase energy consumption, and create a potential fire hazard.

The first photo shows the condition of the heating element before service. The second photo shows the element after a thorough cleaning and maintenance service, restoring proper airflow and helping the dryer operate safely and efficiently again.

Regular dryer maintenance is one of the best ways to improve performance, reduce drying times, and help prevent unnecessary breakdowns.
