⛏️ Did You Know?

The Donlin Gold deposit began forming nearly 70 million years ago, during a period of intense geological activity in southwest Alaska.
As mountains formed and the Earth's crust shifted, networks of cracks and faults developed deep underground. Hot, mineral-rich fluids rose through these fractures, carrying dissolved gold and other minerals. As the fluids cooled and reacted with the surrounding rocks, tiny particles of gold were deposited throughout broad zones and intricate vein networks.

Over millions of years, erosion gradually exposed these gold-bearing rocks closer to the surface, allowing geologists to discover and study the deposit.

Today, the Donlin Gold deposit is recognized as one of the world's largest known undeveloped gold resources. Its formation is the result of a remarkable combination of tectonic forces, volcanic activity, hydrothermal processes, and the passage of geologic time.

NOVAGOLD and Donlin Gold Holdings LLC (DGH), 100% wholly-owned by Paulson Advisers LLC and its affiliates, announced the appointment of Endeavour Financial and Macquarie Capital as Financial Advisors to help support project financing for the Donlin Gold project in Alaska. These advisors will help evaluate funding options, work with potential financiers, and support the project as it moves toward a final investment decision once the Bankable Feasibility Study is complete.

Their experience with large scale mining and infrastructure financing, including export credit agencies, will help ensure Donlin Gold is positioned for long term success.

This appointment follows NOVAGOLD’s announcement on July 22 that it entered into a series of definitive agreements on July 21, 2026, pursuant to which NOVAGOLD’s ownership interest in Donlin Gold will be increased from 60% to 100%, as a result of NOVAGOLD’s acquisition of Paulson’s 40% ownership interest in Donlin Gold in an all-share transaction. The proposed consolidation is intended to streamline decision-making and expand access to private and official-sector capital.
