2024 Student Pendant and Sconce Category Winner:
LYFT by Roman Freynhofer

LYFT is a minimalist luminaire designed to balance functionality, durability, and environmental responsibility. The goal was to create a versatile lighting solution that blends into various settings, particularly as a reading light, while ensuring easy repair and long-term sustainability. The innovative cable clamp, inspired by elevator technology, integrates height adjustment and power delivery into a single cable, simplifying the design. By avoiding the use of glue or solder, LYFT can be easily disassembled, repaired, and maintained. The Dim2Warm feature allows users to customize the lighting ambiance by smoothly shifting between cool and warm light. LYFT's design minimizes material waste and supports eco-friendly practices, promoting a longer product life cycle and reducing electronic waste.

2024 Overall Student and Portable Category Winner:
Entracte by Mathilde Piel

The word Entracte means 'between acts'. This interlude occurred in the middle of a theater piece and was originally used to replace the candles to ensure decent lighting during the whole performance. The length of an act was determined by the time it took for the candles to melt, the height of the flame regarding the candle stick indicated the time that remained. The Entracte lamp is inspired by this experience and aims to use light as a means of embodying and visualizing time. A light bulb can be slid along a rod to set it at the desired height corresponding to a duration between 3 hours and 10 minutes. As time passes, the bulb will move down to the handle. Entracte is designed to accompany you in your daily activities, encouraging you to be aware of the present moment and the time passing around you.

2024 Professional Portable Category Winner:
B Light by Alex Touguet / ALT Design

The B Light lamp has been designed to be entirely 3D printed, with the latest technological advances and more environmentally friendly materials such as PLA or PETG. Our goal is to be able to offer an industrial quality product that is made to order, in order to avoid overproduction, waste and stock management. With this lamp, we want to prove to the world that another way of producing is now possible, even on technical products integrating electronics. Additive manufacturing has the particularity of producing little waste. We went further by developing a design which, thanks to a clever combination of filaments and supportless printing, allows us to use 100% of the raw material, without waste.

2024 Professional Outdoor Category Winner:
SPIKE by Ricardo Silva, Susana Rafael, Catarina Felix - iLAP

SPIKE is a luminaire designed for outdoor gardens with the aim of illuminating small shrubs and plants. Installed on the ground using a spike, it can be configured to feature 1, 2 or 3 adjustable spotlights, at the customer's discretion. Each spotlight is independent and has an anti-displacement mechanism so that it stays in the desired position under adverse wind, impact or rain conditions. Its simple, functional and elegant design allows it to blend in with the environment during the day and bring the garden to life at night. Built from CNC-milled aluminum with an electrostatic powder-coat finish, the SPIKE spotlight is equipped with high-quality power LEDs, and optics with a range of beam angles that provide narrow, medium or close light emissions with low glare. The use of stainless steel cable glands and rubber cables ensures a high level of water tightness.
