We’re proud to announce that Solmax has won the International Geosynthetics Society Corporate Case Study Competition for our project, “Decarbonizing district heating with pit thermal energy storage in Meldorf.”

This case study and win highlights the importance of sustainable solutions for delivering energy, advancing the decarbonization.

A special thank you to Thomas Labda and Timm Sievers for their contributions, and to Catrin Tarnowski for expertly presenting the case study at the 13th ICG this week.

Solar farms are critical to the transition to clean energy, but improving their efficiency and accelerating ROI remains a key challenge. A project in Nagari, Andhra Pradesh, India, demonstrated how GEOLUX®, Solmax's reflective membrane solution, can help address this challenge.

Installed beneath bifacial solar panels, GEOLUX was used to enhance the albedo effect and increase the amount of reflected light reaching the panels. The results showed consistent gains in energy output, highlighting the potential of reflective ground cover solutions to improve solar farm performance and support project economics.

As the renewable energy sector continues to grow, innovations such as GEOLUX can help maximize the value of solar investments while supporting a more sustainable future.

At the 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13 ICG), Jared Hill will present “Comparative Performance of Engineered Earth Armoring Systems and Rock Riprap for Surficial Slope Stabilization: A Case Study on Brookhaven Creek,” co-authored with Drew Loizeaux.

The presentation examines the performance of these approaches in a real-world slope stabilization application.

At the 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13 ICG), Nathalia Castro will present “The Use of Geotextile Tubes for Restoring Popular Marine Sanctuary,” highlighting the role of geotextile tube technology in the Kings Bay Restoration Project.

The project used geotextile tubes to contain and dewater invasive algae and detrital material accumulated over decades, supporting the preparation of the cleaned substrate, planting of submerged aquatic vegetation, and restoration of the manatee food source.
