Confession: I’m counting down the days until the kids go back to school.

I love them.
I am going to miss them.
And I’ll probably be yearning for the summer days again soon.
But, let’s be honest, the summer can be a lot.

The late nights, the endless snacks, the noise, the routines that fell apart somewhere in July. The fighting, the pressure to plan fun, the pressure to balance screen time and play time.
The fun, the memories, the laughter — yes.
But also the chaos, the mess, and the feeling of being “on” every second.

I know I’ll miss these days when they’re older.
But right now, I’m ready for structure again.
For quiet moments.
For some breathing room.

It doesn’t make me a bad mom. And if you feel the same way- it doesn’t make you a bad mom either.
It makes us human.

And to be honest, I don’t know about your kids, but I think my kids might be ready for a change too. They won’t say it, but I hear it in their increases arguing, I see it in their increased boredom. It’s time.

Are you excited for back-to-school or wishing summer could last a little longer?

I love my kids. I love being their mom.
And… I also love my work.

The truth is, I look forward to using my brain in a different way.
To drinking a coffee without reheating it 3 times.
To having conversations that don’t involve snack negotiations.

It doesn’t mean I miss them any less.
It doesn’t mean they’re not my priority.
It just means I’m a whole person — and part of me thrives at work.

We need to stop making moms feel guilty for looking forward to something that isn’t parenting.
You can love your kids and love your career.
You can be a good mom and be excited about Monday.

💛 Have you ever felt this way about going back to work? (Or even about their return to school ?😉)

I don’t need to imagine this because when my dad died, I was 16.

I wasn’t just grieving—I was parenting.
Trying to keep it together for my younger sisters when inside, I was falling apart.

Back then,
We weren’t given tools.
We weren’t given explanations.
We were just expected to survive it.

This is the story that shaped Play to Heal Hearts—a grief support program for children who deserve more than silence.

For the 10-year-old whispering “Wake up, Daddy” at a casket.
For the 13-year-old whose body now panics in hospitals.
For the siblings who become second parents far too soon.

They deserve support.
They deserve tools.
They deserve healing.

If your child is grieving, or if you see yourself in this story, I see you.
Let’s give children a safe space to express, remember, and heal.

💛 DM me “Hearts” or visit www.childrenshealingstudio.ca to learn more.
This space was made for them.

Children need safe stress in order to handle big stress.

Avoiding anything that makes them uncomfortable—like performing on stage, trying something new, or speaking up—might seem protective in the moment. But when real-life hard things happen (and they will happen), they won’t have had the chance to build the emotional muscles they need to cope.

In a recent session, a 7-year-old shared that she missed her school concert because she was too scared. Her body felt sick just thinking about stepping on stage. We used this moment to gently explore how doing things that are “safe-but-scary” helps prepare her for life’s real challenges—like when her dad was sick with cancer.

💡Safe stress teaches kids:
✔️ What fear feels like in their body
✔️ How to stay calm in hard moments
✔️ That they can do hard things
✔️ How to build trust in themselves

This is exactly what we do in the Play to Heal program. Through play, storytelling, and emotional coaching, we help children build the skills to face life with confidence—one small brave moment at a time.

But lately I’ve been asking myself something new:

What if I’m not a bad mom?
What if I’m just a human, doing her best with a tired heart and a full plate?

That’s the shift I want every parent to feel.

It’s why I created:

You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful in your child’s life. ✨

If you end your days thinking,
“Did I do enough?”
“Was I too impatient?”
“Am I ruining everything?”—
you’re not alone.

Parenting Without Guilt: Letting Go of Perfection is a gentle, 90-minute virtual workshop that invites you to release the pressure and rewrite the story of what it means to be a “good” parent.

We’ll explore where guilt comes from, how perfectionism shows up in parenting, and how to shift from shame into compassion—without giving up on your values or connection with your child.

🗓 Thursday, July 17
⏰ 7:00–8:30 PM EST
📍 Online | Replay available
🎟 $65 CAD

Together, we’ll untangle guilt from love and help you step into a more grounded, grace-filled version of parenting—one that honours you, too.
