A rare outcome, and a result of six years of not backing down.

Special awards at the Licence Appeal Tribunal are uncommon. They only happen when an insurer's conduct is found excessive, stubborn, or unreasonable, and they send a message the industry pays attention to.

Lisa Bishop and our personal injury team earned one this month, after an insurer denied a client's prescription claims for six years despite being told, repeatedly and in writing, that its position had no legal basis.

The Tribunal agreed. A 50% special award, plus interest and the benefits that should have been paid years ago.
