1583hd of cattle traded hands here, today. The feeder cow and slaughter cow trade were both fully steady while the bull trade faced pressure today trading $5-8 lower.

It was on all-out knife fight today over the presorted cattle. Much of the steer trade was up $10-15 while many of the heifers also showed strength of $5-8. Some highlights of the presort are as follows:
15 TAN steers - 842lbs $536/cwt or $4513/hd
12 BLEX steers - 741lbs $605/cwt or $4485/hd
14 BLEX steers - 659lbs $658/cwt or $4336/hd
22 TAN heifers - 702lbs $570/cwt or $4001/hd
12 TAN heifers - 624lbs $620/cwt or $3869/hd
47 BLK heifers - 798lbs $510/cwt or $4070/hd

We had a smaller seasonal run today. The feeder cattle continue to trade fully steady. The feeder cows traded fully steady to $3 higher. The slaughter cows and bulls also continue to trade fully steady. A few fall delivery calves are being traded and a super start to the futures gives a great impression for this coming fall run.

The time has come that our wonderful kitchen ladies are retiring. We are looking for another cook to take over the kitchen!

Our sales are Wednesdays with some additional sales periodically, as well as cooking for the staff on presorting days (Tuesdays)!

1106hd of cattle traded hands on this snowy day in Vermilion. The cow market straight across felt fully steady to $3/cwt higher on both slaughter and feeder style cows. The bulls showed a lot of aggression trading at least $10-15 higher than last week, with the high selling bull trading for $336/cwt.

The feeder cattle were up as well following a very good week on the futures, trading $10/cwt across the board. The grass weight cattle continue to be heavily fought over with some 767lb tan heifers trading at $520/cwt ($3988.40). There was also a group of 589lb heifers trade at $682.50/cwt ($4019.93).

We had quite a few palpated heifers to sell today that traded hands as well, which sold anywhere from $4150-$4525.

The handful of young bred cows we sold traded hands from $5000-$7100.
