For the month of May we are proud to be donating $2,000 to Vernon's local Type 1 diabetes organization, T1D Hub.

Diabetes affects millions of people around the world. If you didn't know, diabetes is a condition in which the body either cannot produce insulin or cannot properly use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas that helps regulate the amount of glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream.

Maintaining healthy blood sugar levels is essential for the body to function properly. When blood sugar remains too high, it can lead to serious complications affecting organs, blood vessels, and nerves. Insulin also plays a critical role in helping the body convert sugar into energy.

Did you know that every three minutes, someone in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes? Chances are that diabetes has affected you, a family member, a friend, or someone in your community.

That's why we wanted to support our local Type 1 diabetes community through T1D Hub. Their events, fundraisers, educational programs, and community support initiatives make a meaningful difference for individuals and families living with Type 1 diabetes.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute and help support the important work they do right here in our community.

April was all about books, learning, and giving back!

We were so excited to have been able to donate $2,000 to the Literacy Society of the North Okanagan this month! Their work helps open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities for so many people in our community.

From helping children discover the joy of reading to supporting lifelong learning, the impact they make is something truly worth celebrating. Did you know they offer digital support for those who just need a little help navigating new phones, tablets and laptops? WOWEE!

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing customers, friends, and family. Your support is what makes moments like this possible. We love being able to give back to organizations doing such incredible work in our community.

Ever wonder what happens to your glass bottles after you recycle them?

Well… they don’t just disappear into recycling magic.

First, the glass is sorted by color, cleaned up, and crushed into tiny pieces called “cullet” (fun word, right?!). From there, it gets melted down and transformed into brand new bottles, jars, fiberglass, and even construction materials like Enviro Rock!

That old pasta sauce jar? It could come back as something completely new.

Every bottle you recycle helps keep waste out of landfills, saves energy, and gives glass another life instead of ending up as garbage.

Back in February, we were incredibly proud to raise $1,800 for the Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser in support of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
