Gold does not always look like a bar, wafer, or coin.

Natural nuggets and placer gold come in raw forms, appearance alone cannot tell you the full story.

Simon’s Coins evaluates natural gold based on:
WEIGHT
PURITY
OVERALL GOLD CONTENT

If you have placer gold or natural nuggets and want to understand what you have, bring them to our Vernon shop for a proper review.

Royal Canadian Mint gift sets were made for moments like these, pairing themed coin releases with collector packaging to transform a date into something lasting.

Over time, the value of a set can shift depending on which coins it includes and how well the set has been preserved. What once sat quietly among family keepsakes may be worth more than you'd expect.

If you have an old gift set tucked away, bring it in. Simon's Coins will help you understand what you have.

Not every silver bar came from a modern mint.

Some older bars were created by melting vintage silver coins, giving them a very different look from today’s uniform bullion products.

Their story may be unusual, but the evaluation still comes back to the silver content and bullion value.

Have an older poured or unusual-looking silver bar? Bring it to Simon’s Coins in Vernon so the team can identify what it is and explain how it is evaluated.

One broken chain.
One loose charm.
One damaged piece that has been sitting in a drawer.

Small gold or silver items can still contain valuable precious metal, even when they are incomplete or no longer wearable. Simon’s Coins prices these pieces based on their metal content.

Do not throw them out just because they look insignificant. Gather the odds and ends and bring them to our Vernon shop for a closer look.

Gold and silver grain may be small, but it is still refined precious metal.

Jewellers often use grain to create, repair, or cast new pieces. When unused material is left over, Simon’s Coins can evaluate it based on purity, weight, and current bullion pricing.

"I inherited this, and I have no idea where to start."

Inherited boxes have a way of holding surprises: coins, jewelry, banknotes, silverware, and other precious metal items tucked away for decades.

The temptation is to guess what everything is worth, but the smarter first step is to get a clear, honest explanation of what you actually have, whether that's metal value, collector value, or something your family may want to hold on to.

No pressure. No guesswork. Just a professional evaluation that gives you the information you need to make a confident, informed decision.
