Allegiance to the Queen as an optional oath in your employment, or to pass into the next level of your professional life is a necessary evolution in societies largest far-reaching structures like the legal system, to ensure diversity, equity, and Inclusion are 3 sustainable, integral pillars honored and practiced throughout its ranks instead of perfomative buzz words. As People of Colour have been so brutally colononized and continue to suffer abuses even as natural born citizens, if it is considered by that person taking the oath to be a further insult to pledge allegiance to the very embodiment of that abuse, we stand in agreement and support.
UCBLSA Official Statement on the Bar Admission Requirement of an Oath of Allegiance to the Queen. The BLSA will also be sending a letter to the Minister of Justice urging him to make the legislative amendments that will make the Oath to the Queeen optional.
