Can an ordinary TV remote become a quick-draw shooter controller?

The kids helped connect our Genesis Mini to the laptop, tested its reaction game, and added a bright LED that flashes when it’s time to draw. Then we used the board’s infrared receiver to turn our Roku remote into the trigger: wait for the flash, draw and press as quickly as possible.

We described the idea, generated the firmware, uploaded it to the board and immediately started competing.

This is hardware vibe coding: taking a weird little family idea and using AI to turn it into something real and playable.

I have used AI to build software without knowing how to code. But I had no idea how to start with hardware, what that meant, or why I would want to. Then I saw the Axiometa post about being able to vibecode hardware, and thought what the heck, I can try that.
In this video, I unbox the Axiometa Genesis Mini Starter Kit, fumble my way through using it, and use plain English in Axiometa Studio to generate and "flash" my first project to it. I made a very simple, but working reaction-time game.

Anyone who has worked with microcontrollers will think this video is beyond simple, but for people like me, this is how AI makes you feel like a wizard. And I think that is the key, as AI tools grow, and we can do more and more, you still have to know what you can do, you have to know what questions to ask, and you find that out by experimenting.

For reclamation professionals it is the middle of field inspection season. I think it is more important than ever to ask how we monitor reclaimed leases across the whole growing season, across multiple years, and across different crop and weather conditions.

We rely on professional judgment because the real world is messy. But there is a lot of opportunity to build tools that support that judgment.

The goal is not to replace field expertise. It is to help us focus attention, collect better evidence, and have more confidence in the decisions we are already responsible for making.

If a lease is visibly stressed from space, we should know that before we spend time measuring seed heads.

Remote sensing will not answer every reclamation question. But it can help us ask better ones.
