If you there need a tow truck and google towing in the area you are in....please make sure it's a local company in the area
There are lots of so-called tow dispatches listed on Google that charge you $100 or more just to call tow company for you then you still have to pay for tow. Phone tow company direct to get proper charge quote
Have had 4 customers in last 10 days get flossed out of money....costing them up to 4 times what the tow would have been just to have these so-called dispatches phone for them
Some of these dispatches are road buddies...protow emergency towing....mystic towing... please watch out for these scams

On April 1,2026 new government legislation will become law for all towing operations in Alberta. We are subject to providing written estimates prior to service to ALL customers. We are working through the intricacies of remaining compliant. The extra time and effort involved with this endeavor will undoubtedly raise the cost for the motoring public. All towing operations that want to remain government compliant must adhere to these rules in an effort to reduce predatory towing operations or face up to $300 000 in fines. Please be patient as we jump through this newest hurdle put forth to our industry. We sincerely ask our customers cooperation in providing the information we now require prior to helping a disabled vehicle. We will work quickly and efficiently as possible but more time will be spent at the scene completing paperwork, leaving the public and our staff in danger, longer. Please "slow down and move over" is even more important during this time.

We want to make consumers aware of a system that is going on all over the province/country.

You get stuck or break down and google towing services near me. Ads pop up from 3rd party roadside assistance companies, or towing companies that do not exist, but some do have a website, with no local address or location, or they offer to broker a service for you.

You call and ask for a tow. They collect your information and take your credit card info.

The 3rd party then finds a tow truck near you, they dispatch, have your vehicle towed or winched, they will pay the towing company. Your credit card is now charged for the service at a significantly higher rate

For example today we winched a commerical truck out of a ditch. The invoice was 1100$ plus hst.
Later on we found out the company was charged 2900$ USD. Almost 4100$ Canadian for this service.

If you Google for services near you, make sure the company you call is legitimate, ask for a local call back number, check for a website or social media page, check the Google reviews, call a friend for a referral, etc.

Normally we pick up on these in house but this one slipped past as it appeared to be very legitimate.
