Not only is Tim our firefighter of the month, he's also our firefighter of the year! Tim is someone who represents what it means to serve. Since joining the dapartment, Tim has demonstrated commitment to the department, dedication to his fellow firefighters, and a genuine desire to serve the community.

It has been an eventful week for our department. With all that has happened, we are thankful there were no serious injuries, and for that, we are grateful. With that, we would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of some of the challenges we face when dealing with emergency situations.

This past week we responded to three calls. At those calls, we had multiple people interfering with our operations. Driving over supply hose, blocking intersections to get a better view, walking through an emergency scene, and walking/biking/driving through barricades are just some of the things we have had to deal with. Signs, cones and barricades are put up for a reason. SAFETY! For the safety of our fire fighters so they can work without worrying about being hit by a driver taking pictures. So we can move trucks and equipment quickly and efficiently. And for your safety. There may be hazards that you can’t see, yet the danger is still very real.

I know we are all curious about whats may be going on at our neighbors house, but please, keep your distance and let us do what we love doing. Serving and protecting our community.

With WFR under new leadership, let's meet the new fire chief, James Hack.

How long have you been with Waldheim Fire & Rescue? 17 years
What inspired you to become a firefighter? Boredom? Haha. I think when I joined it was just something fun to do. I never would have guessed I’d still be here 17 years later.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the department?
These days one of the most enjoyable parts is helping train the next generation. Watching them learn new skills and then putting those skills into practice at the calls we run.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of the fire department?
Hunting and target shooting, but with a busy family and a busy fire department they don’t happen as much as they used to.
What is your favorite piece of firefighting equipment and why?
One favorite would be our thermal imaging camera. It allows us to “see” inside walls or detect the heat signature of a person much farther than you can see with your eyes and a flashlight.

Favorite meal after a long call? Almost everything tastes delicious after a long call
Favorite movie or TV show? Not sure about a favorite, but M.A.S.H. never gets old
Truck, tractor, motorcycle, or sports car?
Currently I drive a truck, but that’s because 3 kids don’t fit in a Corvette.
What's one item you never leave home without? A knife in my pocket.
What's your favorite firehall tradition? Our annual summer family BBQ.

Better late than never as they say. It's been a busy weekend. Today, we celebrate and thank all the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who lead, protect, teach, and inspire.
Your strength, sacrifice, guidance, and love help shape families and build stronger communities. Whether at home, at work, on the farm, or serving others, your impact is felt every day.

On Wednesday, members of Waldheim Fire & Rescue sharpened their skills during Low Angle Rescue training.
From rope systems and patient packaging to teamwork and scene safety, this valuable hands-on training helps ensure we're ready to respond safely and effectively in challenging rescue situations.
We're committed to continuous learning so we can provide the best possible service to our community. 🚒 Proudly serving our community.

When you call 911 for a medical emergency, our Medical First Responders are first on scene to help until the ambulance arrives. We work under the Saskatchewan Health Authority and certify yearly in Basic Life Support and CPR as well as bi-annually in update of skills. Thanks to our dedicated team: Derek Koenig (paramedic), James Hack, Robin Ens, Corey Esperance, Phil Daku and Corinne Scheetz for their service in helping the community when in need. Today is International Firefighters’ Day. As volunteer firefighters—we balance jobs, families, and daily life, yet remain ready to respond at a moment’s notice to protect our community. We pride ourselves on service, sacrifice, and commitment. Today, we honor those who give their time, energy, and courage to stand on the front lines when others need it most.
