FunFactFriday at Hanover Airport! 🌷

Did you know that aircraft are grouped by something called an Aircraft Group Number (AGN)? ✈️

AGN categories help airports quickly identify what size and type of aircraft a runway or taxiway is suitable for! 🛬📏 Smaller numbers represent lighter, smaller aircraft, while higher numbers are used for larger and heavier airplanes!

This system makes it easier for airport operators and pilots to ensure that aircraft are using surfaces designed to handle their weight and size!✅🏆

Currently, our runways are AGN II, which makes us suitable for aircraft with a wingspan of 14.94 m up to but not including 24.10 m!

FunFactFriday at Hanover Airport! 💐

Did you know that an aircraft’s centre of gravity (CG) plays a major role in its safety and performance? 🤔

The centre of gravity is the point where the aircraft’s weight is considered to be concentrated! 📍For an aircraft to fly safely, the CG must remain within specific limits determined by the manufacturer! 📖

If the CG is too far forward, the aircraft may require greater control forces to raise the nose! 💪 Which makes it very challenging to fly!🌺

If the CG is too far aft, the aircraft may become less stable and undesirably keep raising the nose up!🐽

It’s very crucial to calculate weight and balance before every flight, considering parameters like passengers, baggage, and fuel! 🧳

Join us on Saturday, October 24th, for the Grand Opening of the Allin Maintenance Hangar at Saugeen Municipal Airport! ✈️

This occasion marks an exciting new chapter for CYHS! As the airport expands, we are ready for increased aircraft activity and new airport guests!🤗 The new maintenance facility expands the services available to local aircraft owners and operators!🧑‍🔧🏠

It also marks the beginning of a partnership between SMA and Allin Maintenance!🤝Together, we look forward to supporting the aviation community and providing quality service to pilots and visitors at CYHS! ✨

We can’t wait to celebrate this exciting milestone with you! ❤️

That was incredible!!🌞 Last Saturday, Trillium Aviators hosted their fly-in at CYHS! Over 51 aircraft from Trillium Aviators, combined with other traffic, resulted in more than 64 aircraft visiting CYHS almost at the same time! ✈️

We’d like to say a big thank you to our Ramp Crew for coordinating all the aircraft movements, and a huge thanks to our restaurant crew for accommodating all of our guests! 😊💛

That was a great reminder that when we work together, we are unstoppable! ✈️

Did you know that the Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche B (in the picture) is known for being one of the most efficient twin-engine aircraft ever built? ✈️

Despite having two engines, the Twin Comanche B burns fuel at a rate similar to some single-engine airplanes, while still offering the added safety and performance of a twin! ⛽⚙️

Pilots appreciate its long range, smooth handling, and ability to cover long distances without frequent fuel stops! 🗺️✨

Did you know that the airspace around an airport is protected by invisible surfaces called Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS)? 🛫📏

Defined by Transport Canada, OLS are a set of imaginary boundaries around runways that help keep the approach and departure paths clear of obstacles like trees, buildings, and towers! 🌳🏗️

These surfaces provide pilots with a safe space to climb after takeoff and descend for landing without hazards in their path! 🛬✨ That’s why you’ll see tall structures kept at a safe distance from the runway!👨‍✈️

It’s all part of keeping operations smooth, predictable, and safe for everyone in the sky! ✅✈️
