In today's session with MAWB - Mississauga & Area Women in Business I covered an important topic to entrepreneurs (one that doesn't get addressed often):
“Am I on track?”
Business tracking doesn’t need to be complicated or overwhelming. Instead of focusing on complex accounting systems, I encourage entrepreneurs to focus on a few key numbers that provide clarity and confidence in decision-making.
A few key takeaways from the session:
• Revenue tracking should focus on cash collected, not just invoices sent
• The “gap” between your goal and your current revenue is not bad news — it’s valuable information
• Tracking expenses is essential because revenue alone doesn’t tell the full story
• A simple Google Sheet can often be more effective than overly complex systems or CRMs
• Your pipeline matters — many missed opportunities happen simply because follow-ups fall through the cracks
• Consistent tracking helps reduce anxiety and allows you to make business decisions from clarity instead of stress
I also shared my free “Money Map” Google Sheet resource, designed to help business owners track revenue, expenses, and connections all in one place.
If you're a woman in business and you haven't gone to a physical or online MAWB event, I highly recommend you check them out on their website and highly interactive Facebook group. I've been loving this group since 2018.
