All kinds of people will tell you to “do what you love and the money will follow”. Law of Attraction and all that. But I’ve found that to run a profitable business, you have to Act to Attract. Which means you have to be able to decide which Actions are worth taking... even when a storm is coming and you only have 60% information.
As an independent professional I’ve always found it challenging to keep my business profitable. When I started my counselling practice over 25 years ago as an independent business owner, I could find virtually no information that seemed useful for building a professional service business. Thank goodness the internet has changed the knowledge landscape. But the challenge is still there. Now we have the opposite problem - too much information. And we still need to be able to discern Right Action.
When I started Ready2Grow Associates back in 2006, I had a vision of helping other small business owners like myself figure out which Actions were most likely to help us grow our businesses. Over time I developed a business growth model built around Best Practices: the actions that are most likely to work well in a given situation.
