We just finished “the art of possibility” by Rosamund Stone Zander and and Benjamin Zander, and it has lots of tips and tools to do just that.

A favourite takeaway? Tell the WE story: What do we want to happen here? What is best for us? What is our next step?

A little over two years ago, a chance introduction changed things for both of us. Fast forward to some happy clients and the launch of Delve!

As serendipitous as our start as Delve was, it wasn't without struggle.

Is this the right time?

What if we fail?

But, then, we decided to get out of our own way and switched up our thinking:
Why isn't this a great time?
Who else can do this like us?
We're already doing this, right?
What if we succeed?

It's amazing the power of a mental shift - and where it can take you.

We love running Design Dashes - they are, for us, the best way to really get to know our clients, to level up thinking, and to put the focus of work and efforts back on their customers and clients. They're a lot of work - both in prep and ex*****on - and so worth it. From them, we work with our clients to execute creative solutions that drive impact.

It's an interesting process of discovery and exploration, with equal parts seriousness and fun. Through it all, creativity is unleashed. And it's funny, often our clients balk at the thought of being creative - they're afraid they aren't creative...or at least not creative enough. It's then we often encourage them to pick up a copy of "Creative Confidence: Unleashing the Creative Potential Within Us All" by Tom & David Kelley - Rockstar gods in the world of creativity and Design Thinking (sorry for the fangirling). In it, you'll find all sorts of advice and insights into the creative process - and tips into getting out of its way.

As we move towards some virtual board retreats we've picked it back up for our own dose of vitamin-C (that's C for creativity).

OK, maybe not, but it sure does feel that way doesn't it?

It amazes us that somehow this alignment has become a willingness to take surprising bold risks. It shouldn't be that way - and it doesn't have to be.

We're busy prepping a Board retreat for our clients in Texas and it's a great reminder to us of why we got into this business we call Delve: to audaciously lie out our passion and purpose - and to help our clients do the same.

We just re-read James Clear's Atomic Habits - if you've not read it, it's definitely on our list of top ten recommended reads.

We've been amazed by how often we hear our clients talk about living and working in these most "unprecedented times" and yet, at the same time, tell us that they've got to do something a certain way simply because that's how they've always done it - even though it was never really serving them.

These comments + this re-read have reminded us of the importance of making sure the systems you have in place are working FOR and not AGAINST you.
