Last weekend was our Chardonnay harvest at Rosehall Run Vineyard!

It may have been a bit touch and go this fall, but right now it’s all smiles and a lot of laugter around the farm.

This is one of the busiest and most exciting times of year on our Prince Edward County vineyard and the moment we strive for all year long.

Our 100% estate-grown Chardonnay is brought into the w**ery, where the team carefully handles smaller batches as the grapes begin their journey from vine to w**e.

All of our grapes are picked by hand, which, as you can imagine, is a slower process. One that takes experience and attention to detail, but is worth it in your glass.

Ever wondered why Prince Edward County w**e tastes different than other regions?

You don’t need to know much about w**e to understand it. A lot of it comes down to where the grapes grow.

Here in The County, we have calcium-rich limestone soils and a cooler climate that lets grapes like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay ripen slowly.

Slow is a very good thing.

The grapes have more time to develop flavour without becoming overly sweet, holding onto the natural acidity that makes a w**e taste fresh and bright.

We also tend to grow less fruit on each vine here. What we do grow can be beautifully concentrated and full of flavour.

Put it all together and you get something Prince Edward County has become known for: w**es with lots of flavour that still feel fresh, balanced and easy to enjoy.

No w**e expertise required.

Sometimes understanding w**e really can be as simple as understanding where it came from.

We agree the name doesn’t exactly scream Thanksgiving centerpiece but hear us out!

The 2025 Acid Head Riesling is bone dry, fresh and bright with mouthwatering acidity and subtle notes of citrus rind and green apple that make it one of the most food-friendly w**es we make.

It’s full of flavour without feeling heavy, and every sip is clean and exactly what you want alongside the richness of a Thanksgiving spread.

Roast turkey? Perfect. Stuffing, creamy sides, that green bean casserole your aunt insists on making every year? Absolutely.

And when the apple crumble comes out? Still going strong.

If there’s something happening at Rosehall Run, there’s a good chance Emma has a hand in it.

Emma comes to Rosehall Run with a professional background in theatre, live events and film. Now she brings her show must go on attitude to all her work here. From logistics, to sales, to harvest and crush, she enthusiastically goes where she is needed.

The bulk of Emma’s time is spent selling w**e to restaurants around the province, managing our restaurant sales agents plus overseeing all of our shipping.

But you’ll rarely find Emma sticking to just one role. When harvest gets busy, the tasting room needs an extra hand, or there’s work to be done around the w**ery, she jumps in.

The Crush is back!

Thanksgiving weekend lands right in the middle of one of our favourite times of the year at Rosehall Run — harvest.

So on Saturday, October 10, we’re opening things up for a casual day at the vineyard and inviting you to come experience a little of what makes this season so special.

The Crush is our annual harvest celebration, with harvest-in-action tours, indoor and outdoor games, colouring for the kids, a w**e quiz with a chance to win a w**e basket, and plenty of Rosehall Run w**e to enjoy along the way.

We’ll also be firing up the BBQ in support of Wellington Storehouse Food Bank, our October Pour It Forward partner.

No formal itinerary. No need to make a whole thing of it. Just drop in, grab some food and w**e, see what harvest looks like on our 150-acre working farm, and spend part of your Thanksgiving Saturday with us.

If you've visited Rosehall Run, you've probably noticed the large, painted trillium quilt on the side of our Tasting Room.

It's part of the Prince Edward County Barn Quilt Trail, a collection of colourful quilt patterns found on barns and buildings throughout The County, celebrating our rural landscape, history and the stories of the people who live here.

For Rosehall Run, the trilliums have a personal meaning.

They were chosen because they grow naturally throughout the forests on our property, a special place and an indication of strong biodiversity, but also an early spring pollinator and food source for our forest life.

Like so many things around The County, and Rosehall Run Vineyards - there's a story behind it.

The best fall afternoons start with good food, good w**e and good neighbours. 🍷

This Saturday, September 26, we’re welcoming Jo Barnes of Renaissance Farm to Rosehall Run for an Adobo Pop-Up in the vineyard.

Jo will be serving her famous Chicken Adobo for $15 per portion, alongside desserts and a selection of jams, sodas and other favourites from her farm store.

Come hungry, grab a glass of Rosehall Run w**e, and settle in for an relaxed fall afternoon in Prince Edward County.

Some w**es have a little more history behind them.

Pinot Gris was first planted at Rosehall Run in 2001, in a small section of our North Block we affectionately call The Toy Box. Those experimental vines proved that Pinot Gris had a place here and, today, they represent some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines in Prince Edward County.

Our 2025 vintage came from a growing season we won’t soon forget. After an exceptionally hot, dry summer — including an incredible 68 days without rain here in Hillier — we hand-harvested the fruit on October 5.

In the cellar, we kept things intentionally quiet. The w**e fermented slowly in well-seasoned French oak barrels chosen to minimize the influence of oak, allowing the fruit and character of our Prince Edward County vineyard to remain front and centre. Three different yeast approaches, including a native wild fermentation, added complexity and texture before six months of barrel aging.

The result is our 2025 Classic Pinot Gris — and only 150 cases were made.

From a few experimental vines planted 25 years ago to one of Rosehall Run’s staple varieties today. Sometimes the best things really do take time.

Dylan has been part of Rosehall Run since he was just 10 years old, so when we say he has insider knowledge, we really mean it.

Today, he’s our Key Account & W**e Club Manager and one of the best people to ask about our w**es, the stories behind them, and what’s happening around the w**ery.

He works alongside Dan and our w**emaking team to curate each seasonal RR Mixtape W**e Club, giving members access to unique releases, upcoming events and special offers. More recently, he’s also been taking on outside sales, working with the LCBO and other corporate clients, helping bring Rosehall Run w**es to more places across Ontario.

Next time you see him around, say hello. And if you have a question about Rosehall Run w**e, he’s probably a pretty good person to ask!
