As Remembrance Day approaches, we take time as a company and as individuals to reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served, and those who continue to serve, in Canada’s armed forces.
This day is a reminder of the courage, loss, and dedication that shaped the freedoms we enjoy today. Many of us have family members, friends, or community members whose stories are part of that history. Their service continues to matter.
On November 11, we encourage everyone across all our locations to pause at 11 a.m. for a moment of silence. Whether at home, outdoors, or in the community, this moment is an opportunity to honour those who gave so much and to reflect on gratitude, peace, and respect.
We will remember them today and always.
Thank you,
Nick Arkle

Exciting week at Canoe Forest Products!

We proudly celebrated the commissioning of a new Dryer at our Canoe Forest Products facility; an investment that strengthens our operations, enhances efficiency, and supports 200 well-paying jobs in the community.

To mark this milestone, we welcomed Minister of Forests Ravi Parmar, Chief Kukpi7 Irvin Wai, and CEO Nick Arkle, who addressed an audience of valued guests, stakeholders, and Canoe employees before leading a ribbon-cutting ceremony and facility tour. The new Dryer will allow us to diversify the species of wood we process, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and continue delivering the high-quality products we’re known for.

During the event, Nick expressed deep appreciation for everyone who contributed to this achievement, with special recognition for our Maintenance Manager, Gord Palmer. Gord played a pivotal role in making this one of our most successful projects to date - a standout even for the Dryer vendor. As he prepares to retire at the end of the month, this milestone is a fitting tribute to his incredible career and lasting impact.

At the Gorman Group, we are committed to sustainable manufacturing and supporting the communities where we live and work. Thank you to everyone who made this project a success!

Today, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a significant moment to reflect on our collective journey toward healing and understanding with Indigenous Peoples.

This day also marks Orange Shirt Day, a time to remember and honor the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and forced into residential schools. We acknowledge the profound impact of this painful history and the ongoing repercussions of colonization on Indigenous communities.

At the Gorman Group., we are committed to fostering and nurturing positive relationships with the Indigenous communities in which we operate. This day serves as a reminder for us to educate ourselves further and to consider how we can actively support and uphold the rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Let us continue to walk this path together, honoring the past and working toward a brighter future.

We want to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate our teammate at Gorman Bros., Steve Guderyan, for being recognized by the BC Forest Safety Council and the Manufacturing Advisory Group for his safety innovation design.

Steve designed a device to block off a lockout required area until all lockout procedures were properly followed.

This design and idea will help make the Gorman Group and BC's forest products industry safer for everyone!
