On Trump's new Exec. Orders: it appears he has the US military preparing a major defensive program. Defense from what? That should be the question. It would appear to my old brain a withdrawal from NATO is afoot, and the expectation of some aggression towards the USA. The aggression could possibly be from upcoming acts of the Trump Admin regarding Greenland, Mexico, the Panama Canal, and to a lesser extent Canada(?).
Leaders of our national political parties; keep this in mind. Trump is NOT of sound mind. We , more that ever, need to bolster our Armed Services and seek not alternative suppliers for our platforms and troops. Better we snuggle up to the EU now instead of when we are possibly in a dire situation.
I'm not saying this is a certainty, but with Trump it appears anything is possible. We'd also better meet our NATO commitments if we start now. Best over prepared than not prepared at all.

The U.S. level of community transmission is high. COVID-19 cases are increasing in most parts of the country. The 7-day average of daily new cases is 130,121. This is 13.2% higher than the previous 7-day period, and 1,016.8% higher than the lowest daily average in June 2021. Take actions to protect yourself and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

If you aren’t vaccinated:

😷 Wear a mask over your nose & mouth.
↔ Stay at least 6 feet from others.
🚫 Avoid crowds & poorly ventilated spaces.

From Ontario Storm Watch. Be ready.

After reviewing the latest data, we believe there is the potential for significant severe storms later this afternoon and into the evening for parts of Southern Ontario.

This is actually the first time this season that we’ve had a significant severe risk on our map for Southern Ontario! So this could be quite the serious situation.

The strongest risk for storms exists along the Lake Huron shoreline and around Georgian Bay. This area could see wind gusts over 100km/h and maybe evening strong along with large hail and heavy rainfall. A few tornadoes may also be possible as the environment is certainly favourable for some rotating storms.

There is still some uncertainty on the exact storm mode which will determine the main risks associated with the storms. Some models are showing a squall line developing over Lake Huron with embedded pockets of destructive wind gusts as it cuts across Southern Ontario this evening. While other models are favouring more isolated cells which could bring some large hail and a tornado threat along with damaging wind gusts.

Either way, it looks like the weather could become quite dangerous later today. This is the day to be weather aware and make sure you have a plan in place should you need to seek shelter from severe weather. These storms will be moving quite fast so you may only have a few minutes to react.

We will be covering these storms as best as we can throughout the day and into the evening so check back for the latest updates. Also hope to have a live stream going as the storms develop later today.
