Not every black bear is black! 🐻✨
This stunning blonde bear rug is still an American black bear (Ursus americanus)—the exact same species as the jet-black bears most people picture.
American black bears actually come in at least 16 recognized colour phases, ranging from: 🖤 Black 🤎 Chocolate ☕ Cinnamon 🥜 Brown 🥛 Blonde 🍂 Tan 🤍 Cream/white (like the rare Kermode "Spirit Bear") ...and several shades in between!
The colour of a black bear's coat depends on genetics and the region where it lives, not the species. In western North America, lighter colour phases like cinnamon and blonde are much more common than they are farther east.
This gorgeous blonde bear made an incredible rug, and its unique colouring really stands out.
