We're unveiling the new Innovation District banners, marking a new chapter for downtown Windsor's innovation corridor - and we want our community there to see it happen.

The ceremony is at 3pm, but the Tech Connect Meetup runs from 2-6pm, so come whenever works for you. Windsor-Essex has a lot going for it - and today, that was on full display. 📍

WEtech Alliance was proud to attend the Tourism Windsor Essex Annual General Meeting, joining regional partners to celebrate a sector that drives foot traffic to local businesses, attracts investment, and tells the story of this region to the rest of the world. The TWEPI team does that work exceptionally well.

We also had the privilege of hearing from keynote speaker Connor Emeny - a two-time world record holder and the youngest person to complete an Ironman on all seven continents. Safe to say the bar for "pushing your limits" has been officially raised.

Congrats to the entire Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island team on another successful year. This is what a thriving regional ecosystem looks like.

Our Venture Services team was glad to join colleagues from across our provincial network today, from both OVIN and the Regional Innovation Centres, along with a group of companies including some from our backyard here in Windsor-Essex, to learn and build new collaborations in the dual-use and defence space.

Huge thanks to Dina Tzirakos-Hawker, Emma Fuller, and the entire Sandbox Centre team for hosting a genuinely useful day, and an honest one. Not a pitch for an easy pivot, but a clear look at what this space actually requires. Patience, persistence, and strong relationship building skills.

The line we appreciated most came from Sonya Shorey at Invest Ottawa, as she and Sandbox announced a new defence corridor between Ottawa and Barrie: “We’re all one province, one network. We want to augment and complement, not replace.”

That’s exactly the spirit WEtech came up to be part of.

Grateful for the new connections, and already thinking about what we build next with the innovators of our region.
